  1. Well (here's my 70 mins worth) and what can only be said as what aload of rubbish I was another who for the first time ever left the game early on Saturday - not so much in anger but more out of disgust and the likelihood if I had stayed my being arrested may have been forthcoming ( more on this later). Anyway, cannot disagree those saying we where the better team up to the sending off but can with what some people say about after this. Regardless of whether we where down to ten men this game was there for the taking - which is what we should have done instead of crumbling away in the fashion that we did. Arrived at the game feeling very confident of a win - or how I chuckled and had a joke with a mate that we had nothing to fear about JFH as every time he had played at Ewood previously he couldn't hit a cows arse with a bandstand never mind a banjo and was sure he'd never scored here before; but in good old tradition carried on to say that just watch him score a hat trick or something now (odds - oh how I wished afterwards) Game started well for us, good football with a bit of other entertainment thrown in by the way of ice-skating , or at least that's what I thought the way our players kept falling over ( why is it always ours -not as if they don't have time to get their boots right ffs!) but yet again no convinction in getting into the box. Then what do we get - Tugay thinking he is playing volleyball and Riley seeing a goalscoring chance going begging for Boro that he must book him - (WELL DONE RILEY)….. Then only something that can be described as a good bit of JENGA by Boro. Talk about crumble - even my Grandma could never have conjured up a better Rhubarb one when she was alive. Whether Tugay can be blamed or not I don't know, but what cannot be accepted is the way we fell apart - there was no organisation, understanding or fight ( not on the pitch at least) and the highlight was actually being in the BB End ( best (bad) atmosphere for ages) and having a tanned Terry Hurlock lookalike providing the entertainment (disappeared and reappeared miraculously without anybody seeing him) to rows 27- 30 seats 47 - 60 of the BB End lower and abusing Bobf ( or we thought he was with what he screamed anyway). I personally feel Hughes has to take some of the blame as well, due to the fact that he chose to put Emerton on the left (Why?) and start with the 'sicknote' Reid (who Souness played basically to play on the left??). Regardless however, under the circumstance I thout Reid did ok considering and from the 70mins I saw was our best player which isn't saying much. Forget all this nonsense about playing 1 up front as we can't even do it with 2 - so how the feck do people think we will score. What we need is some structure and consistency and with the set of rice paper defenders we have at the moment, there is isn't a cat in hell's chance of us doing this. Anyway, coming back to the leaving early (my resentment at the stewards etc is becoming more although I understand they have a job to do) I decided to take the opportunity to go and confront the orange coaters down at the front as to what had happened and what was going on - alas I didn't get there as an unfortunate Policeman in my tracks and susequently it was he who got my rant in his face (all be it in a distinguished manner anyway) the gist being that our club is in a mess and is falling apart, to which he agreed and from all accounts he had had it all numerous times over the last 1/2 hour from the hoardes that where leaving early. To put it short as there is another thread for this but matters are in hand with what happened in the boxes and the situation of standing up (From what I saw as well I am sure the Rovers fan arrested in the ground early doors was a member of this MB ) What is it with Rovers - we are totally useless when we are down to ten men - yet always struggle when playing the opposition with ten men. Totally disappointed and saddened by what is happening to our great club CK
  2. Exactly how a central midfield should be played IMO none of this we need an attacking or defensive midfielder. What we need is two who can play as a unit and learn to work with each other, as should be the case with the two up front and the two at the back. BACKBONE - Making of any team
  3. Bobf - is this just of the cuff or some element of truth?? Please let it be
  4. Den Just a thought that might help With all this bickering would it not be easier say put a list of players for each position and then ask everybody to submit their own starting 11 and subs (x3/x5?) and then players selected this way. If anybody has any questions eg they have not seen a certain player play - then questions could be asked and people put a case forward in response then it is left to the individual poster to make up their own decision without all this ' x is not fit enough to lace y's boots' at least until the end anyway Carry on the good work
  5. Excellent Post Bobf and was going to be my next points. They do it when you go in hospital/ parachuting for example and there are already clauses within the small print of all regulations about the do's and don'ts. Christ, 'incidents' happen all the time yet we don't have legislation for these - next it will be that you have to sit down on an escalator FFS As you say there are too many who can do something who won't, as long as they get their complimentary ticket and free beer and prawn sandwich.
  6. So who has received one of these letters as I haven't and I consistently stand. However, if I do then I'm with Abbey on this and another season ticket wil be lost. This is yet another aspect of football that is killing the game in this country -the enjoyment level is falling considerably yet its becoming more expensive with clubs claiming poverty, yet the fans are being robbed by mercenaries on and off the pitch WHY CAN'T WE HAVE OUR SAY????????????? Its not just at our club that there is this problem - remember it seemed to be starting at MU - but oh no they can't pick on them as they have numbers and power so now they are picking on others with less resource. The annoying fact in all this matter is that the bodies that have the power to do something about it - the Clubs and the FA appear to be totally ignoring the fact, yet it is common knowledge in Football that this is a problem. Its about time something is done - we have become a NAMBY PAMBY nation with full of people who feel hard done too, have forgotten what their legs are for and claim its snowing if the sun doesn't get out of bed -in other words SOFT!!!!!!!!
  7. Hence why there was nearly another 'hillsborough' and the comments from the Police saying they didn't expect so many too turn up -they where only expecting 3-3500k.
  8. Is that not because Leicester play at the Walkers 'Bowl'. Don't personally like Villa for away fans. I'll agree with that! Yep RA just reflecting on grounds in general from following Rovers as what would appear this thread has turned into, and the report is only reflecting on what it reckons would be the top 10 if the football vote goes ahead Agree re the report about Gillingham but as Glenn said it was certainly an enjoyable time for us Rovers fans after the Preston game. Still personally hate Selhurst PARK - bad memories and what seems like an eternity to get to/and away from with a lack of pubs and crap view and lack of character.
  9. Agree with this aspect Scotty (Unlike the Welsh players) but on the whole I feel Ferguson has been a tad disrespectful to Rovers and makes you wonder where his priorities do lie and what is in his mind. Then of course that's if he was actually injured after all before the match However if he was, especially after being out for so long last season I feel he owed it to Rovers and himself not to play as everybody knows once problems start with hamstrings they tend to take a long time to heal if not treated properly. Rovers are in the process of trying to get a settled and consistent side and this is of no help if he will be injured for next couple of games.
  10. Palace without doubt and still one of the worst to get to also. Surprised Leicester's Filbert Street was not in there also Port Vale when it was all terrace before the roof.
  11. Even though I don't get to all games these days, reading through this thread has helped remind me of the glorious trips in the past. Days of the Saturday Special Trains Add to the list Huddersfield/Newcastle/ Leeds/Oxford and Grimsby 4k plus - anybody remember Grimsby a fair few seasons back when they had to open part of the ground they had closed off as so many Rovers fans turned up (pay on the day) then they thanked us for our support over the tannoy. There have been times when even I have been surprised at the number of Rovers fans in attendance at away games - but there have also been very bad followings as well.
  12. HOTELS FOR NORWICH Anybody else sorted yet - this is not a bad site for Hotels depending on your budget. Have done a bit of scouring around and the link Tris has posted seems the best value depending on your budget and where it is but each to their own. I have booked here (x4 of us) but just one thing, if you book at the Cumberland make sure you mention the football special otherwise they will not offer it to you and charge you normal rates.
  13. And therein you answer what some of us are trying to say. As you say, this is one of your cheapest games you will attend -so for your circumstances is in effect a 'one-off' - compared to what you would normally have to pay As you say each to his own - but I know if the tickets where say £10 cheaper they would certainly get a damn more going - even Tris is thinking of rebuffing and he lives in London. Fans are being fleeced left right and centre nowadays and I just feel anything over £30 for a run of the mill league game is way of scale.
  14. As I said - you dont know how lucky you are. Atleast you have the option to go on the official travel, whether you take it or not. I'm sure many of our overseas members would love to even be able to contemplate going to see Rovers at Chelsea. If you dont want to go to the game, dont go. But the last thing you should be doing is making out you are hard done by - because you really really arent. t4e Think your missing the point here - I don't see 1864 saying HE has been hard done by - more reflecting on the point of the lower earners or less well off people. 1864 goes quite regular to watch Rovers away and from what I understand takes a member of his family with him. Now he states that its not outside of his means to be able to afford to go just that he will refuse to pay it - as I will. Overseas members are of the same boat (1-2 games a season), as of any other Rovers fan who does not live within a 20/30 mile radius of Blackburn ie youcan't make every game because of costs Total the costs up in the UK and what it all essence the Chelsea game could cost - 2 games elsewhere could probably be attended for the same price. Things have to be balanced - and £40 is a ABSOLUTE RIPOFF for a ticket
  15. Yep that's me (i'll argue anything) Just that I am one of them that believes you should go out to win any game and regardless of how we play I'm always annoyed when we lose - vice versa when we win I don't give a toss how we have won I agree with you saying it looked like we could get something as we do seem to be playing better - but the match was terrible. Don't get me wrong, I like to watch good football but Monday's game to me was not Football Maybe I'm expecting too much - but when you get two teams of over paid players who can't control or pass a ball for more than two seconds there is something amiss - (they didn't even cancel each other out) I'll be happier Saturday when we beat Villa in a more entertaining game.
  16. mmmmm.... Controlled - yeah I'll give you that Pressurised - bar a 10 min spell and a fair few corners ( about one which was met by one of our players - the one along the ground to the edge of the box.... ) don't think we can say we actually pressurised them - had a lot of the ball but didn't exactly do much with it, and Charlton appeared fairly comfortable in dealing with our attacks ( if that is what you can call them)
  17. And so will I Excellent Post Den think this has contributed towards my decision - Jim take note rather than bitching all the time.
  18. Except for the away fans - so it wouldn't be a sell out Simple as - DON'T PAY IT The longer people carry on to do so the longer they will keep charging them CAPT KAYOS - I dont think they will ever reduce their prices because you are planning a revolt against it. They couldnt give a crap about the away sides, they can fill it week in week out no matter what the price. So what, £40. Its only once a year that Rovers play there. Get your wallet out. The only time our tickets may be reduced is if we are in division 1 or something and we get drawn their in a cup game Not quite Hughesy My point is not just for us Rovers fan though - If demand is not there market forces will prevail (let the oil magnate subsidise it) There was a time when I used to make nearly every game a season - alas the funds are not elastic anymore and on top of the other costs involved I am not willing to pay. Trust me I would love to go to every Rovers game but it looks like Norwich (one of a few grounds I have never been) will be as much as I can extend to at the moment for the distance games.
  19. Except for the away fans - so it wouldn't be a sell out Simple as - DON'T PAY IT The longer people carry on to do so the longer they will keep charging them As I have said on a different thread - unless its a one-off game or a cup semi/final I have my limit at £30. (just watch the Norwich tickets be + £30 now)
  20. Personally I agree with Scotty and would prefer the 442 with x2 centre halves. Not wanting to be antagonistic - but there is plenty of literary material available about our older players with insight to the 'types' of player they where and their achievements hence my votes for RB & LB. I have books that I read about the Rovers and go off knowledge passed opn throughout the years - I know its not the best, but it is worth doing abit of study if you want to vote seriously rather than than of the cuff (much to the derisory of Jim). However, saying as much I have not read anything major with regard to Mike England although down the years Hendry was compared as being the like if not better. I would like it if more who saw the players could make a case for the likes of England as at the moment I am undecided with him /Hendry/Berg/Faz/Keeley/Moran
  21. Agreed SN - Starting saturday I have voted yes on the same basis as what Tris has commented upon. Stick Tugay MGP Djorkaeff in the team for Saturday and shove Jansen up front with Stead Drop Flitcroft and Dickov to the bench I seriously thought Tugay was on his last legs at the end of last season but I feel we miss him badly (or player of similar type anyway)
  22. 1 - I hope your joking - either that or you must really be missing football 2- But we still got beat Good post none the less USA and similar to what I was saying about there being light on the Horizon - but just how far is it? One thing is certain, is it looks nearer than it did 3/4 weeks ago and it will be 12 noon sooner rather than later
  23. Must have been at Old Trafford then or you don't speak to many people Greggyk - Think youl'l find at the moment most will agree with you as it does look liken there might be some light on the Horizon - the question is how far is that horizon away? For all our possesion last night we didn't really hurt Charlton and bar the two chances of Flitcroft (why him) we didn't look like scoring. At least Hughes will be able to see the problems now which as far as I'm concerned have been blatantly obvious for nearly two season's now - shame a certain manager couldn't.
  24. No - we'll be in it by December if we carry on as we are Agreed though - I feel Hughes will sort it out
