Captain you are a very lucky boy if last night's game was one of the worst you have ever seen. For the worst games I have ever watched involving the Rovers, I hope never to have to endure the likes of Oldham and Bolton at home over easter 1982 ever again. Those games were DIRE! Swindon 1-2 away in Div 1 in 1999 was the worst performance by a Rovers team I have ever seen- even the 0-6 at City and 0-5 at Coventry were honourable defeats in comparison (although I did not see the 1-5 at Barnsley). As for quoting the press, I was only trying to show that the normally hostile football press did not see the Rovers performnce as that bleak. I did say one Phililpl but then again I have seen a few - as to some of them mentioned the matches in theirself weren't that bad -bad for us in terms of scoreline but I meant both teams last night. Fair do's on the media reports but I feel they would have been different if they had seen the last 3 away games. Something I forgot to mention earlier - yet again we managed to give a first to a opposition team/player - so much for the foreign players needing time to adapt - or is that just for us? -
Jim do you not read what keeps being said. If you can be bothered to read back you will realise that I have kept saying Newton was so good that he should be selected at left back. I don't need to read back as I can remember mostly what you have said, and as mentioned I cannot remember you demanding Newton for the RB position as much - even though he was primarily a right back. As good as he was, for me you didn't make his case for the LB until it was too late. I voted for Eckersley as personally I feel he deserved it more than Newton and he was afterall a LB. As you have so rightly said, the situation will arise with Douglas/Clayton/Shearer etc - so its up to the likes of yourself who where fortunate to see some of these players to stand up and make yourself heard sooner rather than later. There is a mis-understanding I feel in what is termed as 'greatest' which has already been mentioned will happen in any opinion survey such as this.

2. Why? I have asked you this before on the other thread regarding this and you have still yet to give any reasoned explanation or evidence. Sorry Capt its the same point. If in contravention of Taylor a club sanctioned standing in seated areas there would surely be an issue with the insurance company. Higher premiums or worse a refusal to insure the spectators in those areas could be seriously costly. Thanks for the response TND and I agree. However, this is an aspect that will be looked at - its no different to the old days when standing was the majority - and If everything goes well with the campaign no doubt a report will be drawn up to cover such scenarios and issues. As mentioned its all about the choice to stand and not about enforcing on other people if they chose not to stand - I appreciate your response as it adds to reasons for/against etc and something I hope to possibly give some time to in the future for the Rovers Fans which unfortunately due to personal commitments at the moment I cannot afford the time to. -

Have to agree with you again here Scotty. Personally, I thought last night was one of the worst games of football I have ever seen in my life. Call themselves two premier teams - Premier League you 're aving a laugh. I don't know whether to laugh or cry as it is a game we could easily have won yet no team actually deserved to win - but yet again we got beat. Its quite obvious from last night the dross that Souness has left us but the one thing I noticed nobody has really picked up on, is that this was really only Hughes 2nd proper game (forget Bournemouth) and he will be able to see what is obviously clear to the rest of us and sort it (hopefully ) What I find comical though are some of the comments on here : - We need a genuine goalscorer - we already have!! the problem (Jansen/Stead/Dickov) may not be as prolific as some but if used properly and the service is given all are quite capable of poaching in the area and scoring from outside. Jansen still doesn't look right - ###### he looks to me like he is getting better every game and he is not a LEFT WINGER - I repeat - NOT A LEFT WINGER - so Hughes please play him up front where he belongs - we have two left wingers so use them - if not give Gresko a chance there and tell him to play as such. Philipl - Your posts are normally of good report but quoting from these papers means nothing as they only report on what they saw last night well most of us saw what we have seen on far too many occasions - dross. January - As I have said when Hughes was appointed - forget about January until it arrives - we may or may not have any money to spend - what is important is sorting out the debacle we have at the moment - as come January we could already be in the mire (if we aren't already) Friedal - how can anybody blame him for the goal - the ball was going away from goal and he had plenty of defenders in front of him to cover - only one person at fault for the goal - any guesses Observations :- Matteo has shown exactly what he is - a First Division player Amaruso - needs somebody better at his side and also a kick up the backside to stop is momentarily laspses of madness and slack defending. Flitcroft - Not good enough - had his time now get rid - only one way he is going and that is backwards - like all his passes. Ferguson - What was it TND said about sticky fingers? At the moment no way a 7.5m player. Neill - the liability has now become a debt - no idea about positioning and lives in .................. ( insert your own thoughts) Emerton - without doubt our best player again (spooky) but crossing yet again let him down. Concentration and Anticipation - We looked like startled rabbits in' t headlights - our response to passes ( when made) and flick ons is nil , nada, zero - Jansen wins alot of headers but the pickup by the midfield or forwards is never there. Nobody ever attacks a header or cross with any anticipation or determination from the front to the back. Stead and Dickov - are not a good combination - what is clearly obvious is that we need a different pairing - personally for me it would be Jansen and Stead but take your pick bar S & D together. Corners/throw ins/Freekicks /penalties (if we get one) - why are we so crap? Can somebody please take them off Emerton - even a junior schoolboy can reach the penalty spot - where's the fight to attack the ball and will to score a goal aaaarrrgggh..... As you can see its not all bad but I can only take two positives out of last night - one I have said re at least hughes will be able to see the problems facing him and secondly as a formation we do look like we have more of a stable structure, even if some of the parts need tightening up and oiling. -
Jim do you not read what keeps being said. Everybody (or most) can readily understand your frustration but I don't remember you putting up this argument so vehemently for the RB slot. Personally I agree with you in terms of the 'old players' in that all round they would appear to be better footballers than the 'modern day' player but I think most have given good reasons as to why they have chosen they way they have. I said on my post earlier your own vote will mainly be biased to who you have seen play rather than who you read about and dependent on how you see a player and what he should do. At the end of the day it is after all just opinions.

Yeah and break your leg and you and your accident chasing scumbag lawyer would prob be the first in the queue to claim damages. Clubs would be committing financial suicide to sanction or condone standing in seated areas. : 1. As you would do TND when panic ensues in your seating area for some reason or other. 2. Why? I have asked you this before on the other thread regarding this and you have still yet to give any reasoned explanation or evidence. StuWilky - Why is it becoming boring? as with any campaign it has to start gathering momentum somewhere, and at the moment this can only be within the realms of the football paying spectator - no disrespect to you but with defeatist attitude saying ' it ain't never going to happen' nothing will. Amanda, as mentioned earlier there is another thread that was started on this and I have added my name to your campaign and receive mails - I would like to do some more but don't have the time due to personal matters at the moment but when things get a little less hectic possibly. What the objectors miss on here is the understanding of 'CHOICE' yet they are the same that moan if somebody stands in front of them when they are sat in their seat. -
a lot of replies on this subject for someone who doesn't care i sleep ok thanks,it's of no consequence to me if these people are banned or not,i was just putting forward my opinion of what i have seen of the "evidence". How come you get to see the evidence TrimmTrab? Maybe I can answer this True Blue. As far as I understand, video evidence is available for viewing to the defending solicitors and parties involved but I can't definitely confirm whether this is all the time or for certain instances. I go from experience of what happened at the Sunderland replay the other season( which I mentioned on here) and the arrest of my mate. Not surprisingly, a video was made available from when he was in police custody but not until the day we had to attend court and not surprisingly the video had no sound (police excuse - it was broken at the time) yet was still submitted as evidence. The purpose for this to show the judge that he was drunk and disorderly ( his defence was was whe was arguing why he had been arrested - he did not withstand arrest yet they tried to say he was swearing incessantly). The Police will always try and bend the situation with regard to football hooligans My point here is that I think people are just arguing against each other on here rather than the actual issue at hand. There is fine line here that needs to be addressed as with any other 'hooligan' issue but that's what it is a fine line and 'very' at that as follows: - 1. When should the police react - they need evidence otherwise its pointless but they are pressured into stopping football hooligans so have to be shown to be doing something. 2. Football fans have rights - which the majority of the time are overlooked or totally ignored (herded/videoed etc) but fans just get on with it as part and parcel of the game - in this what I mean is what people are saying on her - innocent until proven guilty - and this prejudice against those that wish` to dress a certain way or drink with people/in the same places is no evidence. I have mentioned before on similar threads - I am not a football hooligan (mad possibly and known by a many on here) I am have a shaved head ( I don't like my hair) I wear lacoste/ben sherman/addidas samba/ baseball cap/lapel badges etc when I go to the football and can count a thousand times when trouble has evolved when I have been at football in/away from the ground - I have been punched and kicked and had to defend myself - question the attitude and actions of police etc and nearly end up being arrested myself - the question is 'does that make me a hooligan - the answer = NO . Now what I am trying to say here is that trouble can happen at any time and sometimes you I have no choice but to defend yourself - and regardless of the situation the Police will always try to prove you guilty to something they try to show has happening rather than what has actually happened. I don't know the full ins and outs ot the situation here or the people involved but it would appear to me that the Police have gone about something in totally the wrong way yet they have a very hard job to do but as always they seem to be going about it the totally wrong way which doesn't endear them to anybody. For those of you questioning BRFCC and Trimmtrab - most ITK 'hoolies' no the situation with the Police and if they get arrested the majority will to phrase a term say ' fair cop guv'nor' and take their punishment but it will not stop them entirely BRFCC- you have chosen to ignore certain questions which leads many on here to question your 'total innocence' hence the slight vitirol towards yourselves, and normally the Police do know who the likely ' bodies' are if there is any trouble so your reluctance to answer cannot go without being questioned. However I do side with you on this although I get the feeling you are ITK if you know what I mean. Personally, from what has been said it would appear to me that the situation here is as said above the Police have gone about it the worng way except there must have been some smoke. I find it strange that it always happens that people who haven't got a clue what happens in the 'hoolie scene' end up discussing about it but go off what they see in the rags rather than what actually happens.

Any loser who thinks last nights performance was acceptable.
-
He looked more like a person reputedly to be Bret Emerton on reputation, boosted by a new lease of life and confidence. I can say have been fairly impressed but still feel his final ball is very very poor - last night he went some way to changing this and carry on as he is I can honestly say I will be eating humble bumble pie with cream (which I am glad to admit) sooner rather than later.
-
Spot on, Emerton was exceptional last night. The 6\10 mark in the LET is nothing short of disgraceful. I agree with that totally and its about time people started appreciating Emerton. The lad has had alot of stick on the Message board over the past months, however i feel in the last 3 games he has been our most consistent performer. I just wonder if dickov was playing last night, what difference he would of made. He would of got the whole team going i think Brownie/Hughesy I am one of those that has been critical of Emerton and rightly so and agree 6/10 by the LET was nothing short of disgraceful it should have been 4/10................. sorry only joking. Thought Emerton had his best game for us last night including the Wolves game and was thinking well maybe he has found his level against Div 2 players - but then to give him his dues the customary quirk of ' you can only beat what is put in front of you' rings true here. I am not getting over excited by him yet , but maybe, just maybe my opinion of him may well change. Well done Brett at least it look like you where bothered unlike most of the others (god that was hard )

After last nights performance they won't need any of the bars open Think last nights result answers everything -
Have the same feelings SS Tris I also agree with you this time. Den - I said exactly the same thing to Bobf re the fitness Bobf - Agree with the we have no creativity whatsoever and are void of any talent - I also apologise for my whingeing (which actually proved me right with the final result) and apologies to the guy and the little kid in front for my ranting ( even though the kid must have thought I was coco the clown or something due to his laughter) The team last night was an absolute (in Tashor style) FERKIN DISGRACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and their attitude stinks. And what totally pisses me off is that there are fans who are happy that we are out and not too bothered about what happened last night- well I am not going to regret saying this but that is what is exactly wrong with our club when we don't give a sheite muslim - apathetic fans and I think we now have the answer to the stayaways, I take it you would not be bothered going if we had got to the final again? Only a few players can come out with any credit from last night and that was Emerton *(yes I have said it) Pedersen/Jansen (for his workrate) Gallagher and Stead again for whis workrate -but god does he need a goal. We are a supposedly Premiership Side and last night was a bloody Embarrasment. The only thing I am glad about is that Hughes will have learnt a hell of alot about the 'strongest squad' we had left by Souness and this can only be good for us in the long run. I AM NOT HAPPY

With regard to the post about the buses from Chorley there is a bus - the 124 which you can get off at witton park but the problem with this is that it is a 20 minute walk through Mill Hill and on a night like tonight you have to leave 10 minutes early to catch it. This means that you are knackered from running from the ground to the bus stop and theres no time for a post match drink. Is there not a South Lancs supporters group around somewhere? There is S.Lancs group that meets at Standish in Wigan (forgot the name of the pub) Not sure that it runs travel to the home games, but it does pick up for away games in Chorley where they have arranged transport for. Don't have the contact details I have at the moment, but this is the contact from the Official Site - c/o GRAHAME WALKER TEL 01257 401005 -

Good post MB6 and a point well raised. I think it was Paul who has mentioned something along the same lines, and the reason it seems the situation is worse for us is because there is nobody waiting to replace the ones that have 'stayed away' for whatever reason. The game is pricing itself away from the fans - on top of other factors that have to be taken into account attending a match nowadays all things included - it adds up to a very expensive day for what does for the majority of times leave you feeling so down for the rest of the weekend. -

CAPT KAYOS replied to Tris's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Exactly ! I always make a point of asking ex-regulars why they don't go any more - 9 times out of 10 the answer is the price of the ticket . Link the cost with the effort put in by many players and the result is that the average working bloke will stop going. Lower the price and people will be more willing to watch the overpaid prancers. When people get fed up of watching games in half empty stadiums maybe market forces will work in our favour again. Agreed Blue Phil/Jim There was a similar thread last season, where I expressed my views on this along to what you are saying here. However, it is not cost alone but I would say it is probably the main percentage contributary factor of it. As I mentioned there is far too much money taken away from the game by easy gain (eg agents/under achieving players wages etc) and until such costs are brought into control the game will continue in to a downward spiral and will result in many a team going under/amateur status/feeder trainee clubs and possibly only a European league in operation in 'USA style 'entertainment (anybody else see Wenger's wishes at the weekend). Football will reach a 'break point' whereby fans will not pay the price of a ticket over a certain value unless it's a one off eg semi/cup final- as much as love Football I have already reached it and my level is £30 (I even refuse to pay it for the England games and go for the cheapest if possible) I find it very interesting that once, MU v Liverpool one of ( if not the biggest) matches in the Uk football calendar is scoffed at as being just another match on TV, and agree with Jim in that I feel TV is killing Football regardless of the amount of money it injects - as this just leads to more being dwindled away rather than being invested into the game. And yes - I couldn't be bothered to watch it either -
It doesn't get any easier does it - after the previous two which I thought where difficult to call we now throw up this. Ceases to amaze me that when you look back at players that have passed through our club the amount of talent that have donned the famous shirt. As Bazza has said earlier, it is always very difficult to compare players from different decades, and dependent upon your age and what you have seen or maybe heard there will always be the bias for certain players you have seen play in your decision. I mentioned in an earlier thread not to forget Chris Sulley in the nominations just out of respect that I felt he never really let us down, however he is not he best I have seen play. Bailey and Rathbone I can remember see playing but that was in my younger years and the memories are a bit vague to say anything special. Alan Wright was one I feel proved all critics wrong and was an excellent LB and for his height was certainly not embarrassed in the heading dept and appeared to have the 'speedie' leap so to put it. Without one person the best I have seen would have to be LeSaux - possibly and arguably the best left back to play in the P/L so far with the ability to score goals as well and if it hadn't been for his spat with Batty and is finger salute to the Rovers fans in the Pre season friendly at Sheff Utd he could well have got my vote. However, you don't get the reverance of Eckersley cheaply and as I said earlier it is very difficult to compare players from different eras; but the way people speak about this guy and the comments from Finney and Matthews sways me to think that he was some player. I have read great things about the guy and his consistency and the will to sweat blood for the shirt can only attribute IMO 'legend' status and makes it very difficult to really look beyond him to fill the spot - so he takes my vote.

Quite comical that the Geordies are saying this was their best atmosphere yet many on here where saying they where hardly singing at all. In addition what about all the empty seats circa 31k - so much for the 'sold out signs' for every match Souness and the best fans the media hype leads people to think they are. -

CAPT KAYOS replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
and vice-versa kettle. Most of your complaints about Souness were his lineup and tactics, so if Hughes is as good as we think, expectations should be higher. American Think you are totally missing the point here and trying to gain points. Following on from what Scotty says, and what I have said previously this is not his team so I think expectation cannot be as high, at least not for this season. Yes come next season (if he is still here ) and he has brought in/sold on players then my expectations will be higher as it would for any manager - which as you seem to be following what I have said in my posts previously was the same for Souness. I am not naive enough to think we are going to set the P/L alight, but I do feel like yourself we should be doing better hence my frustration with Souness and his constant cock ups that many of us expressed our concerns at way before they became major issues. For all managers you live by the sword and every manager's time will come to an end but Hughes has only just taken over. Just take a look at what people are saying such as myself and Scotty are trying to say (maybe we are not expressing ourselves that wel) but I think you will get the gist. -
[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?
CAPT KAYOS replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Agree totally. I think we have signed some good additions this summer and the team we have now is probably better than last season, except maybe Andy Cole. Hughesy/ Kingalan I don't think anybody is saying they would be happy with 17th - more to fact that it would be acceptable considering the circumstances at the club at the moment. I feel Hughes will make a good do of this, but I am with Scotty in feeling at the moment our team lacks creativity and any drive to make it anything other than a mediocre middle of the table side. I agree he needs to stem the mistakes and shoar up the defence but we have also got to be realistic in terms of what is available for him to work with at the moment. January, is the time to take stock and reflect on our position with Hughes being able to at least start to build his 'own side' by buying new players if required. I agree with Kingalan in respect that there shouldn't be any reason why we can't charge up the table and only time will tell if Hughes can get the team to do this - but I doubt it unless Hughes can seriously intall some backbone into this team and do as I stated above which is why I feel January will be more of a marker to reflect rather than now (hope that makes sense ) I find it quite unbelievable that the same people are willing to take 'staying in the premier' as acceptable for Souness but not for Hughes yet he has only just taken over. -

You must be joking about Wigan - it is one of the worst towns for getting and out of - the road network is even worse than Blackburn especially on matchdays. Bolton is not too bad but there is too much other stuff going on around at the same time which increase the traffic levels. As for the finanical interest - I seem to remember reading something about this but it wasn't just the Rovers they where referring to - and anyway the consortium of the Jersey Trust is what everything has to go through I do believe for all his business/financial interests.
