  1. Not confident about this game at all. Everton will get an early goal and defend the game out and hit us on the counter attack. They have a team who defends from the front, similar to ourselves. Five stretched across the midfield and a strong, solid back four. There's no point in hoofing long balls, Stubbs and co will take care of that. Midfield is the key to Saturday's game. Gravesen is one to be watched who can drive the team on and also Cahill. The amount of times he gets forward and un-noticed in the box is remarkable. Rovers 0 - 2 Everton Attendance - 27,256
  2. Does anybody know the times that are available on the trains to get to and from Horwich Parkway? BOLTON TRAVEL NOTICE
  3. Ditto, anybody know? Tickets go on open sale from Thursday, 16th December. Bolton tickets
  4. At least we didn't lose. Saw the highlights last night on Football First and even though I didn't go to the game, yesterday, from what I saw I agree with Scotty's post. We were creating chances in a variety of positions which is a positive. But what really concerns me is that we're not putting them away. So far this season we have only won two league games all season, it's not good enough. Although we've played well, come May, people won't remember the games that we've played well if we go down, they'll remember the results, not the performances. Thompson was blatantly stupid, no need for what he did and none of us can defend him. With important games over Xmas it's the last thing we need. We need a creative spark to kill teams off and we have't got that. A defender and striker would be a nice present in January, I can't see us attracting a big-name player in either position but strikers like Dean Ashton is the only striker I can think of. He's big, strong, aerially a threat and can score goals. From people who went to the game and what they've said it seems like we've lost two points in my opinion and to be honest I can't really see us getting anything next week, but the Newcastle game could be the turning point in our season. C Palace 0-0 Blackburn
  5. Must-win game. If we don't win at Palace tomorrow, then I'll be extremely worried with home games coming up against Everton and Newcastle. Crystal P v Blackburn
  6. My mate managed to get three tickets in the Lower tier on Wednesday. Should be another good match at the Reebok.
  7. I'd love to go to Cardiff, not sure if I can though as I've got to pay for Bolton and Villa tickets. I'd be able to afford the match ticket will have to see how much away travel is before I decide to go, but gut feeling with Xmas round the corner is I won't make it. Does anyone have an idea how much away travel would be?
  8. I think that we need several new players to add to the squad in various positions. But in January we're not going to go out and buy loads of players. Firstly, I'd buy a young centre half, who has pace and would play alongside somebody like Johansson or Todd. Michael Dawson of Forest? I've always rated him and think he'd be a brilliant player for which ever club would get him, don't know what the position is with the player and the club. If we don't get a decent centre back in January then I will really start to worry that we'll be in the Championship next season.
  9. This is a game that we can't afford to lose and let Palace slip away from us in the league. I don't think we'll win, but Rovers will show enough spirit and fight to get a point. Palace 1 - 1 Rovers Johnson - Gallagher
  10. Not too sure about the draw away at Cardiff, for Cardiff it's a great draw for us it's a tough one. We should have the ability to beat them, going there we will need to fight and battle and then our skill level will show. Playing them at Ninean Park, they will try and create an atmosphere as hostile as it can get, not as much as they did against Leeds. There are some good ties to look forward though. FA Cup third round draw
  11. Exactly. In recent games, Nissa has proven that he should be played at centre half. As a player in the last year he has come on a great deal, physically he's a lot stronger than he was and he's more aware of others around him. He's not a left back, it's clear. He hasn't got the pace or skill to get forward as a left back. But we're still giving away goals and that's the biggest concern, we gave the ball away sloppily in Spurs half but in my opinion we should have got a tackle in on Brown before he got into our box.
  12. Cheers, got the gimp suit on and it worked a treat by getting the keycard to the casino from Millie, did the bank robbery and back to the start now. Does anyone know how to recruit family gang members?
  13. Was optimistic about the game earlier on but really disappointed with the performance. To be honest we never really looked like troubling Spurs, we never got hold of the game, like we did at Fulham. I thought that we allowed Spurs too much time on the ball, for whatever reason we didn't press them as much as we have done and we were poor attacking. No creativity, movement or urgency from anyone really, apart from Reid and Ferguson on occasions. Defensively I thought we were ok for the majority of the game. Thought that Todd had another good game at the back and defended whatever was thrown at him. Keane and Defoe were always going to be hard to mark but I felt we did ok handling those two. But in the midfield, I thought we weren't good enough. Time and time again, Ferguson had possession of the ball and there were no options in front of him, resulting in Batty mode by passing it either sideways or backwards. Tugay had a decent game, makes several good passes throughout the game and is caught in possession by Brown who ran over half the length of the pitch to set up Keane for their goal. Spurs got the goal and defended the game out, yet we kept knocking the ball into Dickov, Bothroyd did add height to our attacking options but we never looked a threat to be honest. What I think would do the side good is a change in midfield, that's where I think we look most un-balanced. Emerton has played well this season, but today he was poor and didn’t look suited to the left wing. Ferguson and Tugay can't play together. What I think we should do is drop Tugay and put in a midfielder who will fight for the ball and give the ball simple, to sit in front of the back four and allow Ferguson to get forward. Too many times today Ferguson was chasing after other player giving away possession. I'd put Douglas in midfield alongside Ferguson. Douglas showed, especially towards the end of last season where we needed a gritty performances Douglas provided that. He may not be as effective as Tugay and as good as Tugay's passing, but he gets stuck in and gives the easy ball which is what I think is missing at the moment. Blackburn 0-1 Tottenham
  14. In some ways I'm glad we have a drummer and then I'm not. The drummer is good when the atmosphere is dead and encourages all fans to get into it with basic barmy army chants. But there are times where fans start to chant something, then the drummer drains it out with a massive thud. Sounds awful on the highlights though.
  15. Score goals? Create them? Terrorise defences? Give us something to look forward to? Be worth the price of admission alone? Hughesy, how can you justify that? Duff was one of the best players to play for Rovers. When we finished sixth, Duff probably with Friedel was our two best players in that season and the reason why we managed to achieve sixth place.
  16. After a good win last week at Fulham, the players and the fans are both optimistic about Saturday's game. What's crucial is, if we go a goal up early on, that we maintain our lead and keep Spurs under pressure. Rovers 3 - 2 Spurs Dickov Keane Ferguson Brown Emerton Attendance: 23,851 Blackburn v Tottenham
  17. Yeah I've done that bit. At the moment I've more a less done everything but I have to keep taking my girlfriend out to get that keycard thing. Only problem is every time I come round to her house in a car, she always says I'm too fat or I don't look fit enough, yet I have no fat and my muscle is a third of the way on that bar.
  18. Damien Duff. Duff, originially spotted by Liverpool and later released. Liverpool released him as they didn't think that Duff was 'switched on' and had a lack of knowledge for the game. Duff was proabably one of the best players Rovers have ever had to play in a Blue and White shirt. I was lucky enough to meet him once, the season before we got relegated and as a person he was quiet but pleasant. Nothing surprised Rovers fans during the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan, Duff particuarly played well against Germany and Spain in the Far East. World Football knew who Duff was, Rovers managed to negotiate terms with an extended contract that summer. A year later Chelski matched the release clause in Duff's contract. As a fan I can't blame Duff for leaving Rovers, no matter how dissapointed I was at the time. We couldn't provide compared to Chelsea, as a place, money, ambitions and Champions League Football. But considering we got a lot out of Duff, great memories for both the fans and himself a great player and £17M. I wish him the best of luck and hope he achieves what he wants to in his promising career. I just think that most people who watch him will remember Duff playing for Chelsea and not Rovers.
  19. The home game against Bolton has been changed to the Monday night Sky game for the 24th January. Seems to me, that at the moment our football is providing good entertainment at the moment for the tv cameras. BOLTON CHANGE
  20. We all knew from last season what Gally could do. Fair play to him, he hasn't moaned, he's obviously stuck at it in training and has been given his chance and taken it. What I like about Gally is that as a striker, his awareness of other players around him and has a good eye for passing. I can't remember who but, some pundit on tele said he had a similar style to Teddy Sheringham. Hughes welcomes Gallagher return
  21. I don't like him but I don't dis-like him. Fair enough, like all of us he wants to create an atmosphere and at times if the drummer doesn't, their wouldn't be an atmosphere at Ewood. He can be annoying, like when we score a goal all you can hear is that thud several times. At least we don't have what Pompey have with that cow-bell.
  22. I voted for Sherwood. I always thought how well Sherwood captained the side, especially to Premiership glory in 1995.
  23. I'm glad somebody has pointed this out. I'm over the moon that we got our second win of the season at Fulham and I do believe that we are going in the right direction. But, we are still in the relegation dog fight. Anyone out of the bottom half, I think, is able to get out of it and are able to get dragged into it. I'll be slightly more confident if we win our next two games, Spurs at home and Palace away are two games where if we win, we can climb out of it slowly and leave those two in it with others.
  24. On Bolton's website it says we're a Category A game. Depending on how well we do in our games at the beginning of December will determine if we sell our our allocation or not at the Reebok.
  25. Everything’s been said really. The win did surprise me as I thought we would never keep a clean sheet and that was always going be our bad side of the team, but we always look like an attacking threat. What really impressed me was the communication between the back four, having Short in the team is that he was consistently talking to Jay and Neill. Coleman said that every time we attacked Fulham looked as if they were going to conceded. Thought Barry played well again, Dickov and Gallagher looks like the best partnership that we’ve soon so far. The next two games particularly are important, if we can beat Spurs and Palace we have the chance to get out of the battle and the bottom, drag others into it and we can ease out of it. Hughes delighted with 'huge' win
