  1. I would have settled for that, as I am mightily relieved he is still with us.
  2. He has admitted that is hasn't happened, but failed to expand on that and I can't understand why. If Waggott had promised certain things to him, that in turn meant he posted what he did, then why not now, say what it was that he was told and what the timeframe was. I think we all know the SW has the gift of the gab and manages to appease most fans. That said, I think he will have a hard time doing that to GM when he meets him next week.
  3. It will still be available in some countries though. I am usually in Spain, but can nip of somewhere very pretty niftily, if it isn't available in Spain. The annual subscription is good value at £140 if we can get the full 46 game though.
  4. It looks like West Brom have a few problem of their own, in respect of the financial side of things and questionable owners. I haven't looked at it in any great detail, but may mean, they are coming into this a bit weaker than last year, like us. Given this and given that we took 4 points off them, I am hoping we can get off to a winning start. I can't see a goal fest, but will be perfectly happy with a 1 -0 win, just as we did last year, which I think, broke a horrible sequence, of failing to win our opening match for several seasons. I don't care who score, but assuming Leonard is our striker, then it would be nice to see him get the goal and and set him on his way, to a successful first full season in the team.
  5. Today was a success in lots of different ways. The fans took over in style and showed what can be done. Had this been a standard run of the mill pre season friendly, we would have had around 2,500 on. My Grandson did me proud as a mascot and we had the opportunity for a couple of photographs before the match. I am fortunate enough to to speak Spanish, so had a chat with a coach and a couple of their players, who were kind enough to tell me a bit about Girona and even had a photograph with a player and my grandson too. I thought the match was a decent workout against a good side. Fitness levels look good and hopefully the quality of the opposition, won’t be quite as good most weeks in the league. Thanks again to Miller 11 who I enjoyed a pint with in blues bar after the match, where I also caught up with a few old friends. Great memories to take back to Spain next week and a few nice photos for the scrapbook.
  6. Treble the odds if you also name the team he signs for.
  7. Kit now sorted for my Grandson and 6 tickets bought for the match. Big shout out to Miller 11 for his kind offer. He has made one young supporter very happy.
  8. I was going to buy 5 tickets today, as due to a very kind offer from a member of the BRFC Trust team, my Grandson has been chosen as one of the mascots. I tried to buy him a kit today at the club shop, but they have none and don’t expect to be getting any for two weeks. His kit from last year, no longer fits, due to a growth spurt. I have put the feelers out for a kit for him, but so far, no joy. Hope he isn’t going to miss out, due to that, it would be a great shame.
  9. It sounds a bit like where I am Tyrone. Both the Mrs and I decided to learn Spanish and we are both glad we did. It is nice to have Spanish friends who we can communicate with an if we decide we want to have night off and speak English, we visit one of the areas where we have a large British contingent. It is very hot at the minute, around 35C today and may get to around 40C by the end of the week. I am back in the UK for 17 days from Thursday, so will get a bit of respite. Have a safe trip over and make sure you pack the 50 factor.
  10. The secret is to integrate and definitely learn the language. I’ve seen people move to areas near me, only mix with the English community and not bother to learn the language. They quite rightly gets frowned upon. I live in a very traditional Spanish town. I have learnt Spanish and get accepted on the whole quite readily. Going out for example for a beer with my Spanish mate to a local Spanish bar to watch the Champions league game, City V Real Madrid is a good sign I’m accepted. Even speaking Spanish with a Blackburn accent did no damage, that night.
  11. I remember some of the chairmen, but until Jack Walker came in, I never really even thought about who owned the club. As a boy, it didn't really matter, I was a just a Blackburn lad, who was in love with my home town club. I guess until I was about 15 I didn't even think about the finances, just the players who put on the famous shirts and did their best week in, week out.
  12. Here is Groguet, the official mascot of Villarreal.
  13. Someone is really trying it on there. I get the impression that their owners are a bunch of shysters, there to make a fast buck then scarper. With the riches on offer in the prem, there is no need to stitch the fans up.
  14. For someone to say he is second to Kean and not by much, is bang out of order. He was not worse than Coyle and looking back, was he even anywhere near to Kidd and one or two others. Kean will never ever have even 1% of the respect Mowbray had and to suggest he was close to him, is insulting.
  15. Interesting and well spotted. Persons in control are Madame and her husband and Bala and no mention of other shareholders. Looks like they have appointed an agent in Cheshire too.
  16. Profit related pay. It is a term used when an employee gets a bonus, based on targets (usually profits) being met. in SWAGS case it could be changed to LUST. Losses under set targets!!!
  17. During 90's both of my children were born and both enjoyed free season tickets up to the age of 8. Their (now late) mother chose not to come, so it was 2 free and one paid for by me. They both got the bug and these days my son is as mad a Rovers fan as I am and that is despite them growing up in Bolton and going to school in Bolton. My son moved to Blackburn when his Mum passed away 3 years ago, so that he is nearer to my family and the football ground. My daughter lives in Preston and her son (my first and as yet only grandchild) is a Rovers fan and attended his first match at the age of 4 joining myself and my sin, as we proudly had the 3 generation attending. Who knows if my son and daughters tickets had been free if they would have followed the club as much, but there is one thing for certain, it gave the club the best chance possible of attracting the fans of the future. How nice would it be, if even a £50 season ticket was available to the under 8's were available. Sadly, there is no chance of that happening, under the current stewardship,
  18. I wonder what the equivalent of Forest V Malmo would be these days? Things have not changed for the best in my opinion.
  19. I guess the term, turning a blind eye, being quoted in the article I posted, could apply here. It’s not difficult to find out what goes on, in some of the middle eastern states. The slaying of Jamal Khashoggi was given plenty of coverage in the British and world press, but perhaps a lot of what goes on, is heavily covered up. To give it some perspective, would an announcement that the Russian state were about to buy Rovers, not bother anyone on here?
