It’s a way to walk where you favour one leg more than the other. But that’s not important right now...

I liked that it gave almost everyone in it a solid ‘highlight’ of some sort, but that also played into it’s downfall. A good way to introduce most of a brand new undercard for most though. DoN itself was frenetic, and fast-paced, with sheer variety of match type. To get a 5-star match out of Cody vs Dustin (Goldust) just shows you how badly WWE dropped the ball 3 years ago with those two. Young Bucks vs Lucha Bros was a great tag match, Omega v Jericho was great. Moxley’s debut was perfect. I think they will aim to be a show that offers ‘something’ for every wrestling taste, whereas WWE do that by splitting levels. Main roster offers one thing, NXT another, 205 another. I reckon I can live happily with the cast of AEW and an hour of NXT.

Is this the point where I slit my wrists? Or is it the point where I think ‘That would quite literally have been an unreal signing, who shall we try for next’?

I just hope this is one signing that we may come to know as a backup signing, after signing another 3-4 quality first-trainers. It seems Downing no long plays wide, but in a more central playmaking role. I sort of wonder if he’s coming in as backup, and as a better quality mentor than Conway to our wingers/wide midfielders? I’m not against replacing Conway with Downing, but I hope it’s not with a view to starting often (unless he turns out to be good enough).

I think they’re confirmed as TV-14, simply so they have the freedom to go ahead and make their product look more real. I think they’ll let bits of swearing and violence occur in TV, but only when it makes an impact for the story (like Dustin, although that was a Guerrero-style botched bleed, surely? Great visual though and perfect for the story).

I meant the more personal comments, not the debating ones (which is interesting). Just shame it gets lost in the shuffle a bit.

Struggling to see what JoeHarvey did that prompted the fiasco that was the last few pages. His articles get posted on here with some comments, he responds and then gets jumped on by several people. I’d say perhaps everyone needs to calm down and remember his articles look more like ‘round-ups’ of info, rather than actual rumour mill. Also Joe, don’t feel you have to respond to them all.

I’m not convinced we should be signing a player who couldn’t get into a newly promoted L1 side. Could be wrong, but it’d feel like a step back to me.

Based on what evidence? A career record 1 goal in 6 appearances by age 28? Scoring no goals in 56 appearances for Leeds? Playing on loan 3 times for Luton?

If you get a chance to listen to the Talk is Jericho podcast, the episode titled ‘The Emancipation of Jon Moxley’ is well worth a listen! A proper shoot interview where Jon tears down the WWE creative system, confirming everything we’ve known about it since it tried to christen Steve Austin as ‘Chilly McFreeze’.

I’m taking a more laid back approach to this summer, based on last summer for 3 reasons: 1. The list of arrivals last summer was Armstrong, Palmer, Reed, Brereton, Rothwell, Davenport, Rodwell. None of those were BAD signings, with an argument that Brereton was not worth the money we paid. All of those players either became good regular first team players, or promising for future imo. 2. Most of them were not speculated on to any great extent for more than a couple of days before signing. Palmer, Rothwell, and Davenport were out of nowhere if I remember rightly. 3. The notable signings we ‘missed’ were McGinn and Celina, and we seemingly turned McGeough away in favour of Davenport. Two to Championship parachute teams, one didn’t pull up many trees in a L1 team. Could’ve been worse. If we do similar business but with a slightly higher calibre of player, I’ll be happy. Going to hold off on hanging myself just because one legit unbelievable free signing doesn’t look like happening.

A better product (for now) on free TV! WWE better pull their finger out. AEW seemingly going down the route of ‘what was good for fans’ from 20 years ago, be it TV timings, PPVs, treating all levels of the card as if they were Main Event, and the variety that initially propelled WCW past WWF in the wars.

Craig Conway - (Not getting a) New contract
Mike E replied to Commondore's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
And a thoroughly decent guy too. Spoken to him a few times and he always enjoyed a proper conversation, never rushing through like others do. -
Happy Tugay Day! A 40-a-day smoking 38 year old, who put the Premier League’s best on their arses by standing still. A man who only scored spectacular 25 yard goals, but made them look like tap-ins. Mark Hughes and Sir Alex Ferguson said if he’d been 25, he’d have been playing for Barcelona and Man Utd respectively. Frankly, I still think he could displace Pogba. Mark Noble was picking his all-time PL X1 and said: “I was young and arrogant and I thought, 'oh he's got grey hair, I'm going to get in and around him', and he had me on a bit of string for 90 minutes. I'll always tell people about that. “Obviously I love Steven Gerrard and I think Frank Lampard is one of the best goal-scoring midfielders the country has ever seen, but I'll have to go with Tugay.” More than a great player he was a REAL leader, in a Rovers team chock-full of International Captains. At the 2002 World Cup, he led Turkey to 3rd place, uniting a volatile dressing room of relatively extreme Christians and Muslims. I don’t think Rovers fans will love a player as completely as they did Tugay for another generation. Ask most older fans who the best they’ve seen in a Rovers shirt was, Tugay will be in the same bracket as Bryan Douglas, Ronnie Clayton, and Alan Shearer. Simply the best!

Once you get some scoops (like if Fielding does arrive), we’ll pretty much hang onto every word, btw. Peter O’Rourke is a favourite lately.

Yet when the Rovers fans who DO post your content on here are vaguely critical of it, you then respond with the very drama you claim to try and avoid. As above, don’t take it so personally. That you are a member on here doesn’t make your material on other sites above criticism when it gets linked here. And with every respect, every journalist in the world claims never to lie, or create fake stories, and claims their sources are/seem reliable. Fine. But journalists with better track records on here than you’ve yet established have got plenty wrong. One guy reflecting that onto a story from a relative newbie isn’t worth getting so upset about.

It’s an open forum. He’s allowed to be quite dismissive of a rumour mill. Most of us are. If you think ‘don’t read much into it’ is disrespectful, you must’ve had a sheltered journalistic life. You should seen the stuff we say about Alan Nixon and Oliver Holt.

Geoff Horsfield, the Guiseley Town bricklayer, made a decent lower-Prem, upper Champ career at West Brom.

I’d throw Yakubu into that bracket. Only one season, but a fantastic season. One ray of hope in the darkness of the Kean Era.

I might have chatted to you quite a few times and never known. I get the bus from Park Inn at top of Watery Lane (when I go). Have to echo another post, if that bus weren’t an option, my dad simply couldn’t get to Ewood. Any other option is too much hassle.
