  1. I feel like Jason Brown is easily forgotten from the Sparky era, even though he saved a penalty in one of his appearances.
  2. I keep looking at it as 'we'd gone WLWLWL, how would I feel?' and I'd have been fine with it. Equally, I'd feel good if it were LLLWWW, but the recency effect hurts. As long as we curb it sharpish and hit a reasonable run of form for this season (WDLWDL etc) I'll be content. Just hope we kick on.
  3. Hyam He left Coventry, came up to the Rovers (For two million) He saw us doing it the way we do it And then Came to bolster our defence and he'll chop you down. Don't tell us you know best He's not the same as all the rest! HYAMMMM the one and onlyyyy! Nowhere he'd rather be! HYAMMMM the one and onlyyyy! You can't take him away from me!
  4. Says three things: We have our finger on the button re: developments. We know what we want. We're acting fast.
  5. Anyone slagging off GB fancy reining it in a bit, given who we've just signed and how?
  6. FWIW subscription is well worth it. £40/year and none of those f'n adverts.
  7. On the JPVH loan, I think it would be instead of SVDB, and Caulker and Hyam would be our permanent signings. I actually prefer SVDB on loan in this case for a few reasons: 1. Money saver that could help with another purchase, say Styles. 2. Get SVDB for the season, who can cover CB and rb/rwb as opposed to JPVH. 3. Get some experience from Caulker in to back Ayala up. I'd view him as a 'Short/Zurab' type of signing as solid back up. Having Ayala, Hyam, Caulker, Wharton, SVDB, Carter, Phillips as 7 CBS for 3 spots in a 5 is a great mix of experience and youth, with those first 5 names being reliable without putting pressure on Carter and Phillips (allowing for loans if necessary). Hopefully that could line up for Styles to come in as first choice LWB, with Pickering as back up, and pushing Edun into midfield to back up Travis as a tackler.
  8. I heard that name from a Leicester fan at work when JDT was first appointed. The first player Broughton made enquiries about apparently, but then Vale started showing glimpses in pre-season so pushed a loan for Hirst down the priority list. Perhaps being back 'on' is a judgement on Vale that he needs time on loan himself.
  9. I'd politely applaud him, personally. Not because I liked him as such, I just think it's good form to show polite respect to former managers who aren't Steve K***.
  10. It still surprises me that Venkys don't supply food to the club. Easiest way to save money!
  11. Personally believe Hyam would be an upgrade on Lenihan. Aso believe Szmodics AT LEAST replaces '1 game in 6' Rothwell.
  12. Might've even prevented them. Could be that Caulker on a free (instead of SVDB, for example) allows money to be spent elsewhere?
  13. The greatest footballer I've seen in our shirt. I'm not sure I'll ever see better. People only ever talk about the goals and the passes, but my favourite moment (the longest substitutions in history aside) was the Liverpool game at Ewood where he put Gerrard on his arse stood still. I've never seen it again but it's clear as day in my mind's eye.
  14. Work permit plus appeals process, surely means we've been trying to land Lode for 3 weeks or so? As long as we've not ONLY been working on Lode, it does show we're busy and VERY good at keeping it under wraps.
  15. HOUSE OF THE DRAGON It's great to be back in Westeros!
  16. If the 'Special Venkys Request' is real, it must be for JPVH imo. The rest of our budget would allow for other urgent incomings.
  17. Ayala Wharton New Guy (or higher, depending on ability) Phillips Carter (only because I haven't yet seen him).
