  1. He's been in the job 10 years and taken a club from the brink of extinction to the Championship, what's 'rookie' about that?
  2. Nothing to say the final three candidates aren't Santo, Favre, and Villas-Boas 😉
  3. Let's not forget that managers with repeated and recent success in L1 are STILL a step above any of our Venky managerial appointments when they joined us (probably Lambert aside). I'm just relieved we're actually looking at actual football managers and if Warne or Ainsworth are our worst case scenario, I'm absolutely fine with that!
  4. I think people are overthinking this. Isn't it just a case of Duncan put Carlo down as a reference?
  5. What chance Waggott has been sly here and leaked 'A call with Ancelotti' to direct everyone towards Ferguson THEREFORE drawing focus away from an actual candidate they desperately want to keep hush hush so nobody jumps in (as has seeming happened with Carvalhal and Farke)? I'm choosing (with no basis whatsoever) to believe they've pulled off a very good managerial signing. Reckon our worst case scenario is Ainsworth.
  6. He heard of him when he was just a glint in the milkman's eye. Get with the programme ffs.
  7. Won: 3-1 Vs Chelsea Draws: 1-1 v Utd, 0-0 Vs Arsenal, vs Leicester (KO Penalties). Lost: 1-0 v Norwich Honestly, that's actually pretty good imo.
  8. Oh don't worry, I can already see tomorrow's headlines about TAA not singing the national anthem while ignoring Mount doing the same. No idea what possible difference between them will form this motivation though.
  9. I'm still deluding myself (for the sake of staying away from misery). It'll be one of: Favre, Villas-Boas, Dyche, Santo, Setien, Martinez, Fonseca, Valverde, Zidane. *Puff of smoke*
  10. You just mentioned his 9 years at Wycombe and completely ignored the first 6 years there. He saved them from relegation out of L2 in 2012. Then eventually got them up to L1 in 2018, while contributing the necessary wheeling and dealing to get the club onto a sound financial footing. All without an academy, reserve team, or GK coach. Then, given the opportunity to add to his coaching staff, and reserves (allowing him to rest and rotate players at last) he them promptly gets them into the Championship, relegated, then back into a Play-off final again. The guy has played real-life Football Manager and it's a remarkable managerial career so far. His fandom is irrelevant (and actually a turn OFF for me lest he be tainted by Venkys). But his record suggests he's ready to make the step up, much more than Mowbray or Coyle deserved when they were appointed, much moreso that the recently appointed Beale, Edwards, Lowe at other clubs.
  11. I'm choosing to believe that we'll appoint a good quality manager early next week. On the basis that the only 'leak' we've had is that Glen reckons we're after Farke. Nothing else has come from a credible source apart from Pete O'Rourke getting Big Dunc wrong.
  12. I just want to know Clough's reaction. Did he set Dave McKay on him next time the sides met?
  13. Yes. And many others. On top of his contributions to this place. As much as I disagree with him about many things, I find his determination to know everything about Rovers remarkable
  14. You'd be surprised. I usually feel clued up on these things but I didn't know he was a Rover until after he was linked. I wanted him before that because his record at Wycombe is extraordinary and his passion in press conferences made me like him even more. He's everything Mowbray isn't and, imo, is deserving of a shot in this league regardless of his fandom.
  15. He's a PL version of Mowbray. That's a big step up in quality in itself. Not saying I want him, just don't think it's anywhere near as bad as others think.
  16. That's why I call it uninspiring, but he's certainly a better calibre of manager than we've had previously.
  17. I honestly don't understand why. Yeah, a bit uninspiring, but he's overwhelmingly a Premier League manager.
