  1. Oh the dream: Chris Wilder comes in, gets everyone firing and buys another defender in January. We're on solid footing with a stable defence, Travis and Buckley marshalling the middle. On the wings are Chapman (or loanee) and Dolan, with Diaz and Gallagher forming a partnership up front supported by Dack in the hole! No I won't reveal my supplier 🤣
  2. Bare in mind, though, that is with a heavily neglected commercial side at Ewood. None of the stands have sponsors, many commercial boxes remain unsold, minimal ST sales and no attempt to capitalise on two marketing DREAMS (Oxford promotion game and the BBD story). Only positives are hints of a plan to get walk-ons in, the 17-game ticket (any figures?), and the renewed drive to appeal to BAME fans. All of which have seemingly occurred with the introduction of Paul Fielder (Head of Commercial, formerly of Hull) and Yasir Sufi (Integration and Development Manager). I get the feeling these two will be important.
  3. It was going to be £21m 'conditional on the entirely separate opposite deal for Obefami', wasn't it? IE: £6m thrown down the pan.
  4. Dougie is why my dad converted from Rangers to Rovers aged 11. His dad was driving them to Blackburn from Cheltenham (lived in Glasgow originally, moved for work). As a side note, my dad cried while driving through Darwen and was assured 'Don't worry lad, we're going Pleckgate, much nicer'. Grandad checked the footy schedule in the paper, to decide whether to take my dad to Rovers or Preston. Rovers were at home that day, and my dad fell in love with Dougie. Thankfully he was able to tell Dougie just that story at the first HOF event. I remarked to Dougie how I felt similar about Duff. Dougie replied 'Good player was Duff, but I'd have put him on the ground standing still.'
  5. I can relate, I was raised on Duff/Dunn/Jansen. Then it became Pedersen and Bentley with Tugay in between. The ballers make a real difference, and Dolan is a baller (as is Buckley imo).
  6. The Facebook Massive are back in full flow 😭
  7. Because the win serves no purpose and offers no real hope.
  8. Honestly tempted to bet on same result as last week
  9. He's an example of someone thinking so far outside the box that he's out of his fucking tree.
  10. 'Do you want to go back 3 years or 30 years?' Get fucked you smug prick. We're talking YOUR time at Rovers. Y'know relegation, promotion, stagnation?
  11. Symptomatic of the move from paper to online imo, 'because we can always edit it afterwards, but won't anyway'.
  12. Indeed, the superfluous utilisation of unnecessarily extravagant verbiage is disgruntling.
  13. By not giving contracts to a multitude of non-players in recent years. By getting our money's worth when selling players (even Armstrong was sold short by around £5m on false pretences). £3m for Raya? £3.5m for NZonzi? Cairney? Hanley? Duffy? Even the outgoing Nyambe and Rothwell are worth much more than we will get for them out of contract. By investing in solid young players instead of persisting with older players (we actually do this to an extent, in fairness, but there's no need for Johnson to still be here at the expense of an academy player or a more mobile purchased player). By being better at negotiating contracts. By being more astute with ticket pricing, which generates more income via tickets AND kiosks AND club shop. Actual marketing! I think the £14.60 is the first good marketing initiative the club has had in years! The Oxford promotion game would've had a semi-competent CEO raking in the money for the club. Equally, we should be raking in literally millions in Chilean pesos currently. Sell Chile shirts in the club shop. Sell Rovers streaming to Chilean fans. Sell Rovers shirts (even old ones) to Chilean fans. By finding a sponsor for the Riverside. By maintaining the ground regularly at a low level, instead of paying out for full repairs a year or two later. By making sure a £300k CEO earns his money. Basically if they run the club competently and with a bit of foresight, this club could and should either be more competitive in this league, OR be more profitable/sustainable, and probably both.
  14. Their ineptitude is WHY they have to put up the cash. This club at this level could so easily be run at a profit AND challenge playoff spots given decent commercial nous.
  15. In which case, you could try making a similar post with the same point without slagging off significant portions of the fanbase, then? Such a post wouldn't get removed. The original one did look a bit bait-y tbf. Especially the 'f***ing whinge whinge and moan' bit, on the back of yet another drab loss.
  16. How Mowbray makes it so complicated, I don't know. My coach at school used a Cloughism when we played: You head the ball. You kick the ball. If you have time with the ball, give it to someone who can play.
