[Archived] Le Saux Retires

If he didn't leave with good grace then it should be pointed out. There's too much of this "I've won something for this club so I am absolved of all sins" attitude amongst footballers these days. Bryan, you could say that about anybody who left anyones employ. Let it be known that he did his job, and more, in the year that we were successfull. I'd be in total agreement if you were pointing your barbs at those that picked up their paychecks whilst acheiving sod all. There have been far too many of those...... -

He bloody well played for "our" team when they won the championship. I have no complaints about any of the team (That's TEAM) that played that year. For his, and others, contribution, I will be eternally grateful. -
"Murdochian predjudice' Nice one phil, an accountant with a sense of irony. As someone with a little bit of accounting nouse, but being unable to interpret them into plain speak, I do appreciate your analysis of the books.

McEvoy and Pickering could play together, I reckon McEvoy and Briggs could have played together, and even Briggs and Pickering. I think in those days it was a case of "who is in the best position to put it away". They used to think in them days. Not so sure about Shearer playing with any of the fore mentioned. I'd take any of: Briggs McEvoy Pickering Vernon Southworth Any team facing that forward line (I know they aren't in position) would wet themselves (and I'm talking the old formation of 2-3-5). Just look up thier records. I'm not going for these guys 'cause I'm an old fart, but they used to score for fun. They used to enjoy their football. I could go "sentimental" and choose Briggs, could go logical and choose Southworth. I'll choose Southworth, 133 games 122 goals, is the clincher.

Sorry, Hasta, Have to disagree with you on one point, Rooney, good player- bad attitude another red card would not have made any difference to his future behaviour.
-
MCMC, you didn't have to mention that, did you?
-
Well put, shaddy

Million, I've had a look at a few toon sites, I'd say it's 50-50. He has been good for them in the past and, he has been p'd around a bit by GS. I think they'd be willing to take the risk. At least he has shown committment to their club, which is more than the average Joe Footballer does these days.

On that basis, Streakyb, who could he sign for? Should he only play Champions league football with Real? The prem is just about the pinnacle of club football worldwide. To say that a premiership match is not a challange is a gross understatement.

FLB, it was the LION brewery that was located in Little Harwood. Great bitter. edit: Funnily enough it (The Lion Brewery) got shafted by the then Scottish and Newcastle Brewery.

Spot on Hughsey. Bellamy is biding his time to see if Suoness gets the axe. If he does the Bellers will be back at Toon.

How would his teamamtes at Ewood have reacted? We have 2 Aussies 1 Kiwi 1 Saffer 1 Yank and several others who ply their trade a lot further from home than wee Barry. It wouldn't have surprised me if he was "told" by one or two of the others to stop being a mard arse and get on with the job. How would they have reacted had he stayed?
-
I voted, yes. I must admit that a week ago I would have said no. The reason I changed my mind? It became obvious that he wanted out, and that he had no will to stay and honour his contract and support his team mates. He will be now forever known as a piker without a will to challange himself against the best club sides in the world. You can bet you life, that when he next plays an English side (either at International or club level) he'll cop a lot of flack.

What kind of supporter has a shot at other supporters about attending games, but can't spell the names of team members correctly? BTW, I had 12000Kms, the Timor sea, the Indian Ocean, the Indian sub continent, part of Asia and most of Europe AND the channel to cross. Yours is a pitiful excuse, Eddie -

88 mill loss, worth about 5 bob to the average punter. -
USA, I'm not into the conspiracy thingy, but I do think the Hughes can get into Fergusons head and make him a good prem player. Whilst ever he wears the Bue and White, and he plays with passion for our club, the he deserves support. That, Waggy, is why you should wait, before you boo him
-
Dado, up til now, I thought you were handling yourself fairly well. Putting in reasonable arguements (though, with all comment on a MB we all need to "read between the lines") However, your comment about Phil being a"local (Maltese) boy supporting the Rovers, is a little strange and something I must show my Sydney mate who supports the Rangers

Seeing as I've got a liver on, Matty, it's NELSEN. What are we when we can't spell our players names correctly. -

I will make a comment after our boys have shown what they can do when they really try (says he with everything that can be crossed is crossed) but do not be surprised either way -
T4E, I don't think that it's just this particular incident that's affecting peoples perception of Diouf. You have to admit he has a "reputation". MGP hasn't got that reputation ...yet..
-
"just feed him properly"......... Who had the spoon last season......... Andy Cole.....
-
After reading that phil, then, if Ferguson doesn't return north, there will be much angst at Ibrox. It's becoming apparent that there isn't the dosh hanging around in the Blue side of Glasgow. Will we see anti Murray protests soon?
-
The club has done the "right" thing by Matt, it's stuck by his contract. He hasn't shown consistency since returning from his accident. He's hardly likely to recover his pre accident form now. Shame, but that's life.......
-
Ian, thanks for that resume of Andy. He was a great player, an ordinary guy with an extraordinary skill. An example that modern players could emulate.
