Surely we must be selling hardly any iFollow passes now. Weren't we down to about 1000 for one game, and even that was a couple of months ago? Must be, what, a couple of hundred now? Few hundred absolute max. I haven't paid to watch on iFollow since December now when it became clear it would be another season of nothingness (not that, deep down, I expected anything else under Mowbray) after hardly missing a game before that. Not missed it one bit. -

Agnelli at Juventus is one of the most slippery characters of the lot, he’s been right behind something like this for a while. When Atalanta first qualified for the CL a couple of years ago he openly spoke out about how they basically shouldn’t have qualified as they have no European history. Proper weapon that guy. Atalanta of course went on to progress further than Juve in the CL that season which was brilliant. And on Sunday, the day of the announcement, they beat Juve 1-0 and overtook them in the league meaning Juve might not qualify for the CL next season. So it’s no surprise they’re involved but you’d like to think, given the Agnelli family have owned Juve since 1923, that he’d appreciate history and genuine competition a little more than all the American etc owners behind it. -

Regardless of whether you rate Buckley or not, picking Evans ahead of him is mental. Thought we’d maybe just about got past the days of seeing both Bennett and Evans in the starting eleven. Obviously not. -

Mowbray's wet dream. Yep, thankfully 99% of comments I've seen are dead against it, rightly so too of course. The only occasional comment I've seen from people in favour ("Why wouldn't you want to watch the best players and teams face each other all the time?" 🙄) have unsurprisingly come from African or American 'fans' of one of the 'big 6' or glory-hunting teenagers who get all their football knowledge from Fifa 21. None of them of course have ever set foot in a football stadium. Oh and Spurs getting involved in this. Spurs! It doesn't feel that long ago I was hoping Rovers would finish above teams like Spurs (and we'd be expected to finish above City too in fact). Madness. -
Boothroyd's sole promotion from the Championship and subsequent 20th placed finish in the PL was even a couple of years before Mowbray did the same. His record post-Watford should have meant he was nowhere near the England set-up.

Took one look at his comments, saw 'journey' and 'results orientated owner' (that's a new one)....can't stomach any more. I can't believe this is still going on and being dragged out like this. Well I definitely can given the previous ten years, but still....

Very quiet (not that I think it means anything, unfortunately). Harvey Elliott has been signed up by New Balance Football so he's been modelling their clothes. Oh and Barry Douglas says 'every day is a new day to learn'. Inspiring stuff. That's about it!

"Tony Mowbray's teams play good football" - this really does have to be the biggest myth going. It's all based on his West Brom team from 12/13 years ago that got promoted from the Championship scoring a lot of goals but then passed their way to 20th place in the Premier League. Yet you still hear Sky pundits say it every time we're on TV. Clueless.

16. Questions 2, 3 and 14 I got wrong. Should have known 14 really.

Dack's posted on Instagram today about his Euro 2020 sticker album. You usually don't get too much after a defeat, maybe a 'looking forward to putting it right next game' from Holtby, or Elliott posts a lot too but he probably can't wait for the season to be over now. It's when we scrape a draw or win that they all come out of the woodwork.

Good or bad Friday depending on the result

Definitely Coyle. Can't remember what people's thoughts were about Appleton before his sacking - we'd been well and truly dire for a good few games and the football was abysmal (Millwall at home in the FA Cup *shudder* while the Burnley game was awful too apart from Dunny's goal) but can't honestly remember the general opinion at the time. I think, when he was sacked, it was more anger at Venky's and what they'd turned us into. I don't remember my reaction being 'I'm glad he's gone', just a shake of the head at the overall mess. -
The Ryan Nyambe Appreciation Thread
frosty replied to blueboy3333's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Indeed, and there wouldn’t be a discussion at all if Mowbray didn’t have a strange issue with Nyambe. If Nyambe had been playing every game and putting in his usual levels of performance then I don’t think the RB position would be a talking point at all. I know we can trigger an extension (which surely would have been done by now if he was going to stay) but I wouldn’t blame Nyambe and his agent for looking elsewhere. He’s better than sitting on the bench for a team 15th in the Championship and being messed around by Tony Mowbray. -
Other football league 2020/21 season

A team managed by Gary Bowyer with Jason Lowe in midfield going down to a defeat to remain six points off the play offs? Sounds very familiar.... (Even though, in terms of league position, that’s as good as it’s been for us since relegation - which is frightening) -
When will Mowbray be sacked?
frosty replied to Hoochie Bloochie Mama's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The 'class of 92' are certainly getting through a lot of managers at Salford. -
Jesus where are the goals coming from in that team? Also after almost eight years of nothingness it’s frightening how Evans is even still here, never mind starting.

European Champions League 2020/21

It sounds like Atletico have been pretty poor for a while now, their lead at the top of La Liga has been cut right down, they had quite a big lead at one stage. You're right though, it's rare to see them go out of a two-legged knockout tie like that, normally they're a much tougher prospect and they beat Liverpool twice this time last year when Liverpool were flying high. You're right about Atalanta and Gomez. He's such a fantastic little player. I'm surprised they didn't start Illicic though who can come up with something out of nothing and is pretty hard to stop when on form. I thought Atalanta would have run Madrid a lot closer than they did, but - speaking as a big Italian football fan who'd like Serie A to rule Europe again one day - it's hard to be too critical of them, they're still performing miracles making the CL knockouts two years in a row. -
Rovers v Bristol City - 17/03/21
frosty replied to Proudtobeblue&white's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
This. Three games out the last four he’s been on the bench. Can see that continuing until the end of the season when he’ll be quietly ushered out the door by mid-table Mowbray. Real shame. -
Other football league 2020/21 season
frosty replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
If someone had said a few years ago that Jason Lowe would score a winning penalty in a shoot-out at a near empty Wembley in 2021 I'd have assumed we'd carried on falling through the leagues and it was a National League play-off final or something. Still can't believe we haven't played at the 'new' Wembley by the way, we must be the biggest English club yet to play there surely. And to think if Pedersen's header v Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final had gone in we'd have been one of the first. -
QPR and Southampton are his only failures? He even kept them both up initially, the following half-seasons at both were a disaster though definitely. It went very stale at Stoke but that was after three good seasons and one average one. He did well there overall.

Brilliantly put, nail on the head right there. Unfortunately!

European Champions League 2020/21

Watched Juve v Porto last night yep, really good watch, especially the second half and extra time. Despite conceding three Porto were very well organised and Pepe, as much as I don't like him, was excellent. Saying that, Juve played right into their hands - lost count of the amount of crosses that they played in, Cuadrado in particular must have racked up tons. Chiesa's second came from one but overall they were easy for Porto to deal with. Juve's midfield is pretty devoid of any genuine creativity though so no surprise they kept ending up going wide. Ronaldo was static and, from what I've seen of him lately, isn't much use at all anymore unless a chance falls to him in the box. He's scored plenty for Juve but they signed him to help them win the CL - exits to Ajax, Lyon and Porto since then don't look good. Saying that the hiring of Sarri and then Pirlo haven't helped. -
Sharpe reckons it's Dolan up front. Surely, surely even Mowbray wouldn't have a pure winger up front and a rangy striker galloping about on the right wing. Surely.....

Millwall have only lost three games at home all season (albeit they've drawn 10 out of 17) and only four teams have taken fewer points than us away from home so I would be surprised if we went there and won. 1-0 to Millwall, or a 0-0 or 1-1 draw. Should be a thriller.
