  1. England really struggled with Montenegro a few years ago, think there were at least a couple of draws both home and away. Around the time our boy Vukcevic gave Ashley Cole the runaround. They've obviously got a lot worse since then.
  2. Now that's a proper list of defenders. Can we set the clocks back ten years please?
  3. Nail, head. And what a shame that so many of us are in the same boat.
  4. Apparently that Mbappé is decent, he’d be backup for Armstrong here mind. In all seriousness, France is a great place for bargains. The lower end of Ligue 1, and Ligue 2, will be full of them if recent history is anything to go by.
  5. I wouldn’t say that no ‘Mowbray out’ chants means most are behind him. It took until Boxing Day at Barnsley (and amazingly until February at Ewood) for Coyle to receive any kind of chants against him - and that was Coyle, who any Rovers fan with their head screwed on would have been against from the start. No matter how bad things get, I don’t think Mowbray will ever be on the end of ‘Mowbray out’ chants. Maybe a ‘Tony, sort it out’ at most.
  6. Absolutely shocking game, up there with the Millwall FA Cup QF replay at this rate. There’s just nothing. There was barely anyone left in the Blackburn End by HT. There are about 40 fans in the Darwen End Lower. You could hear a pin drop. Regardless of what happens in the second half, whether we manage to bundle one in and somehow win 1-0, it’s another sorry day at Ewood. And some people have paid £48 for it.
  7. Jones sacked now. I also don't think it was a good idea for the above pic to be posted at lunchtime ?
  8. I think he did it at Leeds away when Mulgrew scored to make it 2-1 in the last minute. Bit awkward for him that we still ended up losing of course, but that was down to the defence in front of him allowing free headers in the box rather than any of his own doing (in fact he almost miraculously kept out the equaliser). As can be seen, we still don’t know how to hold on to a lead away from home almost a year on...
  9. I knew when Cunningham and Lenihan got injured that you’d start to hear ‘we’ve got a lot of injuries’ as a reason for our poor form. Let’s not forget that in the two games before they got injured we got one point from two home games v Luton and Forest, a very poor return despite the likes of Bennett trying to big up a point v Forest because they were ‘right up there’ (why are we never up there ourselves, Elliott?). Cunningham came off early at QPR but by the time Lenihan came off, the game had gone, and what’s now looking like a rot had clearly already set in.
  10. Even if Walton had caught that cross, we’d have still thrown it away; the whole approach to the second half was wrong and it felt like we didn’t get properly in their half in the second half (bar the header from the corner) until it was 2-2 again. And even with the error, we’re still 2-1 up against Preston (not Barcelona) and we’ve been the better side for most of the game at that point. Why does that mean we have to then go on to lose? Why can’t we pick ourselves up again rather than collapse? If Waggott did say ‘we needed a third’ to that fan then that really winds me up. Is a 2-0 lead at HT in the Championship not enough to go on and win?
  11. He does seem to have the Jason Steele disease of making the simplest of saves look dramatic. And also not saving much in general, by the looks of it.
  12. The Forest game was just an alright performance. Better than the Luton game before it but we still barely created any clear chances. If that’s the benchmark then it is indeed a worry. They might have been second at the time but you get all sorts of teams up there within the first two months of the season (we’re never one of them, of course...). They didn’t look anything special and it’s no surprise they’ve fallen away a bit since. So let’s not hear them being bigged up as anything more than a mid-table Championship side.
  13. Find it odd that Rothwell can be left out of any potential line ups because he was quiet in his TWO starts (two months apart) this season, yet Evans is included in said line up after six years of mainly non performances.
  14. We fielded an absolute stinker of a team that night. Caddis, Elliott Ward, Gladwin, Whittingham and Feeney all started....Antonsson upfront on his own too who was about as strong as a paper bag. Surprised it was only 2!
  15. Dunny tweeted 'Be careful what you ask for' not long ago. Of course that could relate to anything, but chances are it's about Mowbray...
  16. I’m sure it was 8 when I checked earlier, so someone has seen the light....!
  17. Disappointing to see Gallagher start ahead of Graham (if he’s upfront) or super Joey Rothwell (if he’s inexplicably on the wing).
  18. But has the past 12 months (and especially this season) not shown that, regardless of how many points we might find ourselves away at a given point, we're completely incapable of fighting for promotion? Reminds me of Bowyer's last full season a little. "If we win our game in hand we'll be four points from the playoffs". Yes we would have been, but the previous 18 months under him had made it clear that we just weren't capable. Even if by some miracle we win tonight and on Saturday, it wouldn't change anything. The bigger picture suggests mid-table is our limit.
  19. We might win - we're due a victory to ensure we keep plodding along in mid-table and that we don't fall too far down the league. Birmingham can't be up to much themselves either, one mid-table team v another. Obviously hope we win but it's pretty depressing that a victory wouldn't really mean anything, as we've made it clear we're incapable of doing anything of note this season.
  20. Longer than that I’m afraid! We went 2-0 up in that game. League One days I think it was. Really disappointing in the end after an encouraging first half. The subs made us worse. Gallagher and Evans on? Taking Holtby and Travis off at the same time? We’re just drifting aimlessly. It’s frustrating and boring to be honest.
  21. Best first half at Ewood for absolutely ages. Dack loved having Rothwell in the team - somebody on the same wavelength - at the end of last season and it’s the same with Holtby now. Two good goals especially Dack’s. Tosin’s distribution and use of the ball is on another level compared to Lenihan (and all our other CBs). Ideal for getting the ball to the feet of Dack and Holtby in dangerous areas. Well done Nyambe too.
  22. Bell isn’t good enough if we want to progress (which is a big ‘if’ anyway....) and his lack of desire to close down crosses is unforgivable, but some of the above is over the top. He’d be nowhere near my thoughts if I was asked to name the worst Rovers players I’ve seen.
  23. Haven't got it to hand but yep sure he said that (and you're right, I think it was Boersma) but the other players soon thought he looked more like he cost £70k than £7m. He obviously wasn't up to it but there was the odd moment that showed he had some ability, his first goal v Everton was very nicely taken then in the aforementioned West Ham game he played a lovely chipped through ball to Flitcroft to score. Jansen's relief was clear though when Cole came in January.
  24. Hmmm, that would definitely represent a poor tournament, but I don’t think he would actually. Let’s not forget Hodgson was allowed to stumble into Euro 2016 and preside over the Iceland shambles despite England getting dumped out of the 2014 World Cup with one point from three group games. He’s got a lot of credit in the bank from the World Cup last year and ticks a few other boxes too so I’d say he’s probably pretty bulletproof unless there’s a disaster like that Iceland game.
