  1. Can anyone tell me why there are two midweek games this week in the Championship? Forest v WBA and Middlesbrough v Sheff Utd are both tomorrow with Forest on TV, yet nobody else is playing. Hull v Villa tonight on TV. Can't wait for Saturday's live game between Derby and Leeds, Sky Sports will be in overdrive with the Lampard & Leeds love-in.
  2. Notice that it seems Derby have now beaten Middlesbrough to the signing of Waghorn from Ipswich. Reported fee of £5 million. That's a lot of season tickets. Another £5 million to put onto Derby's FFP calculations to go with the £5 million+ on Marriott and the other signings. Must be paying him well to get him to turn down Middlesbrough who like to throw money around themselves. Still haven't sold Vydra either..... That cash might enable Ipswich to spend if it is reinvested.
  3. Well Mowbray said last week that he expects 4-5 more incomings. If we assume Armstrong is going to be one of those, whenever that is announced, then we should be seeing at least another 3 in the very near future i.e. before Thursday. Maybe one will come later on in the loan window but would certainly hope there's Armstrong and another couple at the minimum in the building by Thursday tea time.
  4. Evans will have them in the promotion mix. Peterborough a bit like Brentford in they have an excellent record of unearthing quality players who have been overlooked or lost their way, turn them into multi-million pound players, sell them off regularly and repeat the process again whilst still managing to compete in the league.
  5. Would be a sickener if a club like Ipswich landed Maddison but not a surprise. Time is a ticking. Have we signed anyone yet?
  6. Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich others who put away fans upstairs away from the pitch and only allow them the bottom tier in exceptional circumstances.
  7. Well with the entire Darwen End now available for away fans when the likes of Millwall turn up next week with 1,000 maximum fans it would be daft to put them in the traditional blocks closest to the JW stand. If it were up to me I'd put them upstairs out of the way but if they go downstairs it should be done to ensure there is no need for any seats in the home ends to be netted off.
  8. Middlesbrough CB, nephew of their Chairman. Highly rated a couple of years ago so not sure why he's heading to Burnley. Seems they've failed with Dawson from Wba.
  9. Aren't they both injured so they're desperate for a keeper
  10. 20 million or almost that for Hart and Ben Gibson. Sooner them than us. And Dyche spends his time commenting on other clubs spending, he should look closer to home.
  11. So Maddison wasn't included in Peterborough's squad photo earlier today, Posh confirming that a new Championship club is in talks with him. Seems he's on his way somewhere. Would love it to be us but think it is unlikely, though once again their Chairman was happy to deny Wigan as an option but refused to answer whether Rovers were a possibility. Mowbray likes players he has worked with or experienced first hand before like Rothwell, Armstrong, Payne, Samuel, Dack and Gladwin. Maddison and Gallagher are another two who fit that description. I would be happy with Gallagher coming in. Like Armstrong knows the club and squad and did quite well last time. 11 in 43 is not bad for a side that finished in the bottom 3. Like with Armstrong I would want a permanent deal as these lads need to put down roots, grow and develop at Rovers over a couple of years not continue a nomadic loan existence whilst never getting into contention at their parent clubs. And I don't believe for one minute that Southampton would expect 7 million for him. 2 to 3 million would probably be enough and is probably a good price in today's market.
  12. I've no idea what Nmecha is. He might well be quality but I always approach rave reviews of teenagers who have spent their time playing in academies and reserve football with extreme caution. Supporters of clubs naturally are biased in favour of their own academy lads as we often are on here being desperate for them to succeed and go on to be great players. I think Sky Sources amount to a couple of blokes sat on twitter all day looking at rumours.
  13. Guardiola is mates with Bielsa so like with Harrison I would expect Leeds are in the driving seat for any City youngsters. I'm not fussed really as I think there are more pressing concerns to deal with over the next 6 days before worrying about kids on loan. We need another 3 or 4 quality additions in the house by the time the window shuts on Thursday. 'Sky Sources' quite often means one of their employees has found a story on twitter and decided to put it on their own news network.
  14. It hasn't happened yet. If/when it does I'm sure 99% of Rovers fans will be pleased with the signing, but until then it is just talk.
  15. As far as I'm aware we haven't signed anyone for significant money yet, nor have we done so for the last 5 years unless you consider Dack at £750k to be significant which given the level we were at I suppose is a fair argument. If we get Armstrong in on a permanent contract then it seems the £1 million mark will have been breached for the first time in a long time, though I very much doubt it will ever reach the £3 million reported at least not before we've sold him ourselves for a significant profit. If he comes in then I think it is a good signing and I'll applaud the owners and club for getting it done, but also will be expecting at least another couple of quality additions to go with it, as per Mowbray's interviews. Armstrong alone isn't enough.
  16. He hasn't signed yet and I take what I read in the Sun with a large dose of salt. But yes a good signing and especially so if a permanent deal. Providing he is even remotely successful for us in the Championship he'll be worth more than that in a few years.
  17. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11459033/brentford-decide-against-naming-club-captain Interesting that Brentford have not named a Captain, instead having more collective responsibility.
  18. If they want a 'signing section' then it should be in the BBE and they could designate one of the 5 blocks as a singing/standing area e.g. the corner nearest the Riverside.
  19. There won't be any games down at Brockhall today. The players will be setting off to Ipswich. All so predictable with the Telegraph. Applying handbrakes to rumours and excitement for years.
  20. I'll make a prediction that Rich Sharpe will say something like 'i'll look into it' or 'i'll check on that one' and then come back and says that Armstrong remains on Rovers' radar but a move isn't imminent.
  21. I think that's what we need yes. Though I'm not sure Mowbray likes that sort of thing, think he prefers other ways so doubt we'll see a big lad target man turning up.
  22. I think this was well down the line as far back as last week. I'm still of the belief that the Bennett PR exercise early this week and the 'Agent Benno' thing was being done knowing Armstrong was on his way. Mowbray was probably teasing with his comments the other day. If it comes off I'm pleased provided it is just one of 3 attacking signings. With him and Palmer we've probably now made up for the trio of departures from last season but of course we need to be stronger than last season so more options are needed.
  23. Very disappointed that Birmingham signed a player that presumably the League had to sanction the paperwork and registration on. They're taking us all on a ride here. Simple question that I'd love to know the answer to. Why didn't the league announce way back in May those clubs in breach of the rules and the punishments they would receive?
  24. I'm still struggling to buy into the belief that we're going to be splashing the cash on a couple of multi-million pound players. As I've learnt with Venkys, talk is cheap and I'll believe it when I see it. Last 10 transfer windows going back to January 2014 I reckon we've spent about £2 million or so at the most spread across Williams, Bell, Dack, Samuel, Davenport and Rothwell. We also raked in fortunes in sales during that period. I'd be very pleasantly surprised indeed if Venkys were going to sanction one signing that cost more than all those, never mind 2.
  25. They broke the rules alright, only for some unknown reason it has been left until the 11th hour to announce it. Meanwhile they spent a couple of million on a new player who is allowed to play for them. Perhaps the League should get their own house in order and announce sanctioned clubs at the start of the window rather than the back end and prevent them from signing any new players. No mention of the word embargo which seems to have been dropped. Meanwhile lots of empty threats of points deductions etc. which i'd bet my savings will never be enforced.
