  1. IF this one gets played, I expect Rovers to put in one of their best, most inspired, performances of the season. The team came back to get a point yesterday, when seemingly all was lost. There is still a lot to play for. 1-1 (I said inspired, I didn’t say we would win!)
  2. Absolutely; men like Santo, Bielsa, etc, it doesn’t have to be a man from the UK (I’m from Texas, so my search might be even broader than others on this board). What is the general feeling about Tugay- is he still a Coach at Galatasaray?
  3. Not to promote, or argue against, a managerial change, what are the perceived strengths & weaknesses of Damien Johnson? How about Gareth Ainsworth? If/when the time comes for a managerial change, I would be open to including younger men, not just “the usual suspects.” I know it can be risky, but it’s always a risk, anyway, going a different direction.
  4. If we move up to 8th, that’s improvement, but it’s not a playoff place. If I remember Mowbray’s prior comments, playoffs were his goal. We’ve only been 8th once since relegation. If we can get that high on the table, sacking him becomes that much more problematic. No easy answers to this. I’m just afraid there is nobody else out there clearly better than Mowbray, that would justify sacking him.
  5. I’m with you, Chaddy. We aren’t going to hire Superman right now, anyway. Give Tony the season, & properly assess him then. if we’re still hovering between #11-15 on the table, with our key men back in the squad, it will be a much easier decision to give him his walking papers.
  6. I always want Rovers to get a positive result. There is no benefit to lose, nor will it get Mowbray fired. I will take a point today; it beats what we got at their ground.
  7. Tony doesn’t care... owners don’t care... board doesn’t care... players don’t care. Etc. If I believed like most of you, I’d walk away from the club, and never look back. Just go be a Liverpool or ManU fan.
  8. He’s free to have his opinion; but I don’t think we can talk about beating anybody in this league by 3 or 4 goals, especially after our last meeting with these guys. I would take a point or 3 tomorrow, and be glad of it.
  9. I don’t believe Dack gets the start. Still, this should be a strong 11, one of the best we’ve had thus far. It will be interesting to see if Rovers put three teenagers on the pitch at the same time. also, how Branthwaite pairs with Lenihan.
  10. Another tough test, in a month of tough tests. Of our remaining fixtures in January, I rate this the 3rd toughest. Let’s hope Travis & Dacky put several in the net, I cannot see our patchwork defense holding up. I hate debating “must win” games, but if there was ever a must win- if we hope to push for top six- this is it. COYB!
  11. That’s good. no thanks, no desire to read 37 pages. I had mine as well, but not on this thread.
  12. Well, maybe Mowbray can get Branthwaite and/or Pickering, get Nyambe back, perhaps Dack & Travis pep up our attack, etc. There are no miracles here. But, we can hope for improvement. I know nothing short of Mowbray being sacked will satisfy many of you. Whatever happens the rest of the season, mowbray needs to be re-evaluated fairly at seasons end.
  13. I’m afraid I bought Mowbray’s line about his love for the FA Cup, hook, line & sinker. I’m not seeing evidence of it today. Methinks we need to see Elliott & Arma, & perhaps Gally in the 2nd half, if we hope to advance in the Cup.
  14. I see the need for Arma to get a rest; Douglas hasn’t featured as much.
  15. It would have been easy to be a Liverpool fan. Our son got his Master’s at Reading, and he adopted them quickly while in England (but the first game he saw was Reading/Blackburn, with a Jordan Rhodes Game winner). I began learning about the game, studying the teams & players, and I kept going back to Blackburn Rovers. The first game I saw on TV was an FA Cup match, Rovers vs ManC, the first goal was by Scott Dann. I was born in Dallas, two years after the Dallas Cowboys were born, so we grew up together. My earliest memories were 1969, Roger Staubach & Calvin Hill’s rookie seasons, & “Doomsday, that great defense they had, so the Cowboys were already winning by then. It would have been easy to pick a “massive” PL team to follow. I still think it ironic the last time the Cowboys & Rovers hit Paydirt was the same season- 1995. My wife & I got a personal tour of Ewood last September. I also went to the Anfield museum, got my picture taken with the six “big ears”, etc. But I treasure my pic with Rovers’ PL trophy, much more. CoYB!
  16. Friendly issue.... I’m just saying beating or losing to Stoke isn’t dependent on what happens tomorrow vs Doncaster. Mowbray says he loves the FA, & has since he was a kid. Playing Dack & Travis proves he takes this seriously. As far as the FA Cup as opposed to the EFL Cup, no doubt the FA is more prestigious. Rovers won a passel of ‘em, prior to 1930. But, I have to believe any Rovers fan since 2001 holds EFL Cup win over Tots as as big deal. As for winning the PL again, I just want us to be promoted in my lifetime (I’ve only been a fan since 2013, & I’m 58). I will accept whatever happens afterward. But it would mean as much, if not more, to this generation of fans to win it, as it did to those in 1995.
