  1. football is supposed to be a simple game, though our tony and his team selection makes it seems like the times crossword
  2. bennett at left back is the biggest liability, and has smallwood taken over the mowbray housekeeping,he`s somehow managed to get a place on the bench despite being nowhere all season
  3. i`ll start to get really excited if we beat the pie eaters today, wigan are just the type of team we usually capitulate to,big, strong and direct, the fact they beat huddersfield last week is also of concern, huddersfield brushed us aside at home and away,we were lucky at home and completely bullied at their place, cmon the blues get stuck in and don`t take a backward step,it`s a game that mowbray as player relished,he should have us spitting fire when we get out of the tunnel
  4. proper coaching would and a bit of attacking football would make gallagher and armstrong a great match together, for the size of him gallagher does`nt put it about enough,he should be up for knockdowns with armstrong playing off him,if you got those two combining well, their value would rocket, not sure what you can do with brereton tbh
  5. you know the penalty for standing still in football with the same players every year,it`s called mid table obscurity at best and relegation soon after,if mowbray does`nt get a penny from venkys,he should still be looking for players on the free transfer list,we`ve also got the horrid scenario of dack, lenihan, travis and maybe nyambe attracting attention from others
  6. do you think tony is topping up his pension fund and does`nt want any undue fuss, like promotion!!,spoiling it,would be hard work for him getting players in of quality to even compete imo
  7. basil, what were you doing?my main memory of the match was us taking the game to utd and paul mcgraph holding them together at times,he was a magnificent player to be fair,as good a centre back/midfielder as iv`e ever seen
  8. i don`t see any other clubs in the whole of england or anywhere behaving as we have,is there some malevalent spirit influencing madcap decisions, bloody hell, hart could`nt even hack it at rochdale and smallwood has`nt played for a season because he`s not good enough,i think im`e going to dust of my boots and start playing again, with a bit of luck one of mowbrays scouts might be driving by and give me a years contract, makes you wonder what will happen next in the stupid decision stakes
  9. horrible team are wigan with a thug of a manager and wimbledon style direct game, keep the ball and they`ll get shattered ,avoid the intimidation and get one of your own in when the refs not looking, cmon rovers, dismantle the dinosaurs
  10. if we somehow manage to get promoted(highly unlikely but strangely possible)i hope uncle tony does`nt go to far on the sentiment front, can`t imagine any of the current squad bar lenihan and travis coping with top flight football?
  11. i would love to know who gave the go ahead to sign a player for 7 million quid who can barely function at this level, for that sort of cash you expect the real deal and 15/20 goals a season, sometimes it does`nt work out for a player,id`e put him on the list, get what you can for him and move on,if mowbrays keeps him it`s going to take a massive amount of time coaching him to even get him up to standard, even then it might not work out
  12. anyone remember the moaning old gits section of the blackburn end, right near the fence separting the riverside?they had a different target every week, branagan and miller especially irked their ire, used to laugh because they always maintained they had enough and they were going to watch chorley next week, but the next week they`de be there, moaning like ****,was a relief when my dad said we were now old enough to go on our own and in his words "stand with the idiots in the middle!!"
  13. it might be a bonus giving mowbray no money, venkys gave him an open chequebook and we ended up with gallagher and brereton,i think he`s better without large amounts of cash tbh, might force him down the leagues for a bargain or two
  14. will be a real test, the oafish cook will have them fired up,only hope we won`t be pushed around adn intimidated
  15. nailed on to be another loan keeper between the sticks next season, the mysterious transfer budget certainly won`t stretch enough to sign a good goalie
  16. im`e showing my age here, walton is a carbon copy of john butcher, does some fine saves but you just know a mistake is coming, send him back to brighton and get a reliable keeper mowbray,he`s cost us loads of points this season
  17. tony might have had an epiphany in the downtime and watched the 1970 world cup brazil side on youtube,we`ll come out of the tunnel with tony`s team talk and gallagher and armstrong will be pele and rivelinho?
  18. different times i suppose,it was a time when defenders took ball and man and you had to look after yourself, the thought of some of todays squad being invovolved in a battle like that makes me chuckle!!!
