  1. unfortunately in the modern game a striker is expected to be able to do everything,im`e of the opinion that strikers are paid to score goals,i think jordan is seen as a bit of throwback,if he`d been around in the 80`s he`d most likely be playing in the top division, rush and lineker wer`nt complete players, they just had the nouse to sniff out opportunities in the box
  2. you had to be there in that era to appreciate standing on the old blackburn end with a team put together on a shoestring that played good, honest attacking football, promotion might have brought a season or two in the top flight before the sky behamoth took over,in the end jack would have come on board anyway imo,he was showing interest for a couple of years beforehand,i`ve never felt so bad about a result after that palace game, devasted as i was about englands demise in the 1990 world cup,it still did`nt come close to how bad i felt about that play off
  3. their keeper made a fantastic save from a dunnie header as well,i was disapointed not to win but not in the way we played,we were excellent against one of the best sides in the bundesliga, incidentally i remember the match was played at 5.30 pm for some reason,i was in the blackburn end, went straight from work, resplendent in overalls and flourescent jacket that stunk of diesel?
  4. robbie slater contributed to the league title side without really being mentioned, kevin gallagher was a cracking player but never got the credit he should have, going further back in time, chris price, noel brotherston(god rest his soul) and vince o`keefe who was understudy to terry gennoe for years, despite being a very good goalie himself
  5. i don`t want to even think about next season,it needs a complete squad rebuild and i don`t think mowbray is up to it
  6. palace play offs away 1989,never felt so dejected ever after a match, before or since,i think it`s because palace we useless in the 1st leg and promotion looked a certainty,it was never a penalty either?
  7. iv`e always had a soft spot for players that did **** all for 85 minutes but then changed the game with a moment of magic, wegerle was a prime example?
  8. the replay was a fantastic game,it looked like we were getting back into it but stapleton missed the penalty, incredibly during that period,i think we missed every penalty we got for about two months,it was that bad in the end,it was rumoured they were thinking of giving the job of spot kicks to terry gennoe?,the only penalty i can remember after that mental few games is when david mail took one at stoke and his massive run up concluded with him nearly breaking the net,i can also recall the penalty was in the last minute courtesy of a ridicoulous dive by andy kennedy, the stoke fans were not amused and our exit was met with a torrent of cans and bottles
  9. there was supposedly most of the top flight looking seriously at garner around that time, most likely the scouts saw how he lived his life and thought,**** that the guys trouble!!!!!!!!!,glad he did`nt leave,i don`t think he`d have hacked the big time, not because of lack of ability, just his lifestyle
  10. duffs goal against birmingham in circa 2001 was pretty special, marked tightly on the edge of the box,he shuffled the ball between the two brum defenders, gave himself half a yard and smashed it in the top corner,he was unplayable that night,we should have scored a dozen and it put birmingham, who were one our promotion rivals well out of contention, they never recovered from a beating that bad and limped in the play offs only to be beaten by moyes preston
  11. keith gillespie,on song a full backs worst nightmare, one of the most gifted players iv`e ever seen,he made the game look so easy, just a shame he did`nt have it up there in the mind dept, some days he looked like he`d rather be anywhere other than a football field
  12. poor keith,he did take some major abuse?,honestly i though he brought it on himself by trying to be something he was`nt,in his mind he was up there with zidane,in reality he was a player from the bottom division who got lucky
  13. think he thought he was a bit above rovers tbh and saw us as a stepping stone back to the big time though maybe if ince was`nt such a **** he might have stopped
  14. im`e basing it on him continually disapearing, not turning up for training and genuinly being a pillock when his opinion of his own ability did`nt match his true ability,25 games in two and a half seasons says it all
  15. great striker with few weaknesses and scored vital goals for us,love him to bits?
  16. i always though grabbi had the ability,he just could`nt adapt to english football
  17. sergio peter-so bad he would have struggled in a sunday morning side maceo rigters-came with a good rep, never saw him play but apparently he was utterly terrible jordon slew-cost us a million quid and last seen getting shown the door by chorley at 26,says it all!!!!! tony finnegan-probably the worst player iv`e ever seen, period shaun curry-signed by don mackay, troubled person and terrible player honourable mentions to per pederson, tony diamond, paul shepstone, matt dickins, anders anderson, all dawson and stuart munro
  18. i missed the qpr game due to an absolute humdinger of a hangover, the wine lodge in chorley had cheap rum on sale,it got very messy indeed,i could barely get off the couch for two days?,happy days though!!!!!!!!!!
  19. i remember in the early days of sky the pubs used to be packed on sunday afternoons and match nights,it was a novelty to see to so many games on the telly
  20. andy kennedy, marshall burke, grant hanley, jordon rhodes(not very scottish but has a few appearances for them)
  21. friedel neill hendry samba mikey gray ripley tugay dunn duff shearer jansen i cannot believe someone has put amaruso in?he was ok apart from the fact that my grandad was probably quicker and he lost a leg in the war
  22. i had doubts about jack paying 3.3 million for a player who great at southampton but did`nt score that many goals there, changed my mind completely when he demolished the norwich defence in the 7-1 win, mind you i thought souness should have signed berkowitz and not tugay?so don`t take any notice of my scouting ability!!!!!!
  23. that season was the first my friends and i started going on our own,my dad stating he was fed up with the idiots in the blackburn end and proclaiming we were old enough to look after ourselves, used to love it in the blackburn end, everyone seemed to have their own place on the terrace and look at the entrance price?,that villa winger tony daily, what an absolute handful, thankfully he used to hit the crowd more than the striker when he tried to cross it,if he could have crossed a football he would have been legendary
  24. horse racing is on,so is greyhound racing and the national league are playing as well,if you don`t like any of those three then it`s going to be a pretty boring weekend, get the monopoly set out or a deck of cards?
  25. if thats the case then no doubt the cia and mi6 are planning to infect the ***** back with something nastier,i`ve always thought bio and germ warfare was far more frightening than nuclear armageddon, only takes a couple of competent chemists to make a nasty virus, far easier than building a nuclear device
