I don't usually blame the refs but we were short-changed by them in that game and the subsequent game against City.

We were in total control of that game against Leeds but only scored the one. However we had the clearest penalty I'ver ever seen disallowed late on in the second half. Obvious foul on Shearer. Even Leeds fans around me thought so.

And the City game was a farce culminating in a ridiculous penalty for City that never was.

I've never got over that because it stopped me seeing the title won at home against Newcastle.

Having to survive Milosko's heroics for West Ham and watching Cole's misses meant we won the title but t wasn't the same.

I couldn't go to the Liverpool game. 😬

Yeah I remember the ref gave a very dubious penalty for a ''foul'' on Niall Quinn.  Awful weather that night.  The pitch was a mudbath.  I remember against Chelsea at home in March there was polefork marks all over the mud.

Yes shame as I was also at the Newcastle game.

I think we definitely would've done. However, conversely, I think that Utd would've won it in '95 had Cantona not been banned for his infamous 'Kung-Fu Kick' at Selhurst Park. Our form at the end of that season seriously tailed off when the pressure was on.

Our form from Feb - mid April was excellent but after that we started getting nervous.   I remember we played Leeds at Elland road and were winning 1-0 and let in a last minute equaliser.  If we won that there was no catching us. Think that was the start of the rot.  Then the infamous Man City at home defeat.  I think that was a real indicator of nerves.   But then we threw in good win against Palace and Newcastle.  I actually saw the whole game at Anfield recently as they were reshowing it on sky.  We played quite well looking back at it. The problem was Shearer missing a sitter and Sutton with a Hans Moleman effort in the 2nd half.

  3. Tomasson is probably an idealistic coach and those tactics are easier to implement in continental leagues where as English football is more intense and you are not given the time on the ball you would in the likes of Sweden. Its more hussle and bustle.  The Championship is not a technical league if you ask me.  Its a league where everyone beats everyone and only the most functional teams get promoted and even then those teams are not good.  Its a dogfight and you need good characters in your team more so than technical players imo.  I think we need a couple of lads over 30 who have been there and done it.  Gordon Cowans type players who have been let go by other teams.  You're not going to get out of this division with kids.

that ball looks like it belongs in a cannon🤔

speaking of heading the ball, even when i was growing up in the 80`s,heading the bloody ball from one of those goalkeepers kicks from hand was hazardous,as a full back i always hoped the bloke i was marking got off his feet first then i just do enough to disrupt him, getting a forehead full of mitre delta had you dizzy no matter how well you used your head

I gave up playing ball at 16 but them Mitre Multiplex were a joke.   Always caked in dried mud from the game before and pumped up to the 9s ready to explode.  They were rock hard and even painful to kick at times.  I used to dread having to head one of them especially at corners.  Severe concussion would kick in!  Also we used to play in winter so the balls would also be frozen and rock hard.   Gettign a slap in the thigh from one would sting for about 10 mins after and leave a big red mark.

No doubt I'll get dementia now as a result!
