  1. I thought it was rubbish to be honest, a major disappointment considering the quality of the books. I was in Holland last week and caught I Am Legend at the cinema. It's really very good aside from the awful (nearly embarrassing) CGI and an unnecessary departure from much of Richard Matheson's awesome novel.

  2. My god, the screaming irony.

Anyway, you have an interesting point of view certainly. I simply fail to understand why the usual claptrap needs to be dredged up on this thread to undermine a genuinely talented British sportsman like Hamilton who had a dazzling debut season in F1 and is a real contender on the world stage.

And of course what is your take on the subject?

  3. Honestly Richard you never stop do you. What on earth does the 'liberal media' and 'New Britain' have to do with Lewis Hamilton? Has the 'conservative media' not been equally taken with him? He's an incredibly talented kid who may well be world champion this time next year. I'm sure many of us (myself included) are pleased Calzaghe won as he's clearly an outstanding athlete and performer in his field, but don't let your withdrawal symptoms from the sugar rush of your favourite threads clog up the posts on this part of the board.

  4. just got back from watching it ...awsome film best ive seen in a while...it finishes just as its getting you wanting more and leaves teasers...never even thought about anythic godsquady.

Yes but the books are quite anti-religion. It's very unlikely you'd see anything 'godsquady'. The view I usually trust is that of Empire magazine and they say it blows. I'll still go and see it though.

  5. This is an eye opener from the Guardian:

Platini has long argued for a control on foreigners in the Premier League, and gave one telling statistic to illustrate the problems that England's national team faces. "If you do not have so many players what can you do?" he said. "There are 95 registered Brazilian players in the Champions League, 94 French players and 45 English players. When you have twice as few players as other countries it is difficult."

For the record, there are no Brazilian teams playing in the Champions League and four English teams registered 100 players between them. I am surprised the number of English players is as high as 45; are there any English players in the Rangers or Celtic squads?

    Lee Naylor plays for Celtic.

  6. As for you Neekoy you are a poster I respect in the main, but why do you support an English club? when you clearly have such a dislike for anything English. As soon as England loose at anything you are their running them down.

Agreed we as a sporting nation could take some lessons from the Australians in terms of preparation, mental attitude & pride at representing your country.

The support of any English club in no way equates to support of the English national team. To make that leap is nonsensical.

Yes as a team Croatia have been better, but measured on raw talent they are not as good as the English.

Bringing raw talent into it is irrelevant. Raw talent does not win you games or tournaments. In any case, the Croatians exhibited talent beyond anything England have produced (Wayne Rooney aside) in a very long time.

  7. On the day and over the course of the group they were the better side, but are you seriously saying that you think they are the better team? If you want I'll happily place a bet with you on the world cup qualifiers.

Yes I do think they are a better team though I'm not surprised you disagree. It is many years since England have played as the Croatians did or indeed played at the level befitting their alleged station.
