It's a shame Leicester got the crisps sponsorship. The Walker Stadium, Ewood, Blackburn would have sounded pretty good to me. -
Shefki Kuqi has completed his Bosman free transfer to Blackburn Rovers. The 28 year old Finland striker who scored 20 goals for Ipswich last season has signing a three-year contract at Ewood Park.

Heck I bet he wished hed waited until the weekend Newcastle have fined Laurent Robert two weeks' wages for his stinging attack on manager Graeme Souness - even though he has agreed a move to Portsmouth. The French winger, 30, told The Sun that the Magpies would have lifted the 2005 Uefa Cup "if Souness had the intelligence to see what was going on". "If he keeps going like he has, he'll get fired and deserve it," he added. But Newcastle are still paying his wages until Friday and have disciplined him "for a breach of club discipline".

Join the club, I cried a lot last season, to a point that I fitted wipers to my glasses. -
Rovers have this morning announced the appointed John Williams (formally the chief executive) as the new Executive Chairman at Ewood Park. Paul Egerton-Vernon acting as spokesman for the Walker Trustees is reported to be delighted with Williams' appointment, stating "He (JW) will guide the board with similar vigour, enthusiasm and business acumen as he has always displayed in the eight years he has been at the club." David Brown, one of the Trustees, who recently stepped down as chairman of the airline Flybe, has been appointed as Vice Chairman. Link Boardroom Restructure Link John Williams Statement

[Archived] 2005/6 Season Ticket Sales
Alan75 replied to Mike Graham's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Taking Exiled members out of the equation, if the per centage figures indicated in the poll, it looks as if season ticket sales will be down by 10%. Renewing my season ticket. [ 24 ] [80%] Renewing season ticket but moving to cheaper seats. [ 1 ] [3%] Not renewing my season ticket. [ 3 ] [10%] Buying my first season ticket. [ 2 ] [7%] Total number of votes to date(excluding exiled members) [30] If these figure are a sign of the overall fan base then it's no wonder that Rovers are reluctant to spend big in the transfer market. -

Alan75 replied to Mike Graham's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Renewal of seats deadline is this weekend, so out of interest / market research Ive added a poll to see how many on here will not be renewing. Whilst I appreciate that members here, (excluding exiled rovers who due to geography cant attend) are die hard supporters who will be renewing, it will be interesting to see what per centage arent renewing, if any, or propose to move to cheaper areas of the ground. -
Further to transfer rumours first reported on this site last week, media sources are today reporting that talks have begun between Rovers and out of contract Ipswich striker Shefki Kuqi. Rovers manager Mark Hughes is still reported to be interested in signing Porto's Benni McCarthy however Rovers chief executive John Williams has told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: 'Mark is interested in Shefki because he feels he could give us something different. We have spoken to his people but we have not made an offer as yet.'

I passed a comment on Sunday that the pitch was in perfect condition, big mistake as the response I got from Mrs75 was. "Well there hasnt been much football played on it all year"

Its a Rovers reserves pre season fixture.......why premier league ref. !!!!!! -
For those suffering football withdrawal problems they now only have four weeks tomorrow, to wait before they see the Rovers in action again. Rovers have finalised their proposed pre-season fixture list with the visit of Spanish side, RCD Espanyol to Ewood Park on Saturday 6th August. Rovers start their pre-season fixtures four weeks tomorrow away at Christie Park, against Morecambe on Saturday 16th July, before they fly off to Germany for games against 1860 Munich on the 23rd and Real Mallorca on the 26th. On their return Rovers will play Swansea City on the 30th July to mark the opening of the League Ones new stadium. With just four weeks to go before preparation begins for the new season, Mark Hughes will be hoping to have captured some of his transfer target, in order to acclimatise them with the team and to formulate his tactics for the new season. Current players being rumoured as targets on this sites message board are; strikers Stefki Kugi, Andy Cole and Benni McCarthy, Rovers even confirming that a bid was made for McCarthy. I suspect over the coming weeks more speculation and rumour will emerge as supporters hope that a new striker is in place for the pre-season fixtures and more importantly to generate an interest in season ticket sales.

Pre seaon August 75 against Blackpool -
Striker Situation Still Vacant - Watch this space. Well the latest rumours would suggest that Rovers have been frustrated by Porto and have withdrawn their bid for their South African striker Benni McCarthy. Rovers Chief Executive John Williams is reported to have said"We do not have an agreement," "I made a great effort to sign the player, but we did not obtain him, therefore we have to leave it and look at another solution." The latest rumour would suggest a return to Ewood of Andy Cole, who joined Fulham last summer after a well publicised fall out with Graeme Souness.
