  1. den's answer to the problem of no drummer in the jw stand.
  2. What Id like to know is, why are those in the free seats behind the managers allowed to run up and down the touch line.
  3. I'm with you Brownie, the most important factor at the moment is to get behind the team, as I said earlier in this topic.
  4. Following Saturday’s vocal protest by fans regarding the ejection of two supporters, Rovers have released a statement explaining the events that prompted the protest. The club and the police have denied that anyone was ejected from the ground against Middlesbrough on Saturday for persistent standing, stating that two arrests were made for Public Order offences Chief Superintendent David Mallaby, the match commander on Saturday, is quoted as saying "Police officers did carry out two arrests in the ground for Public Order related offences. Both have been charged and are waiting to appear in court. I can confirm that police did not arrest anyone for standing in a seated area." In a statement released on the Official Rovers web site, www.rovers.co.uk club secretary Tom Finn is quoted as saying: "An unpleasant atmosphere prevailed during the second half of Saturday's game and we feel it is imperative that everyone be made fully aware of the facts. "There was an incident at the Blackburn End during the second half. Visiting supporters situated in one of the hospitality boxes celebrated when Middlesbrough scored and that led to a response from within the home support. "Club staff and stewards went into the hospitality box to speak to those concerned and from thereon their behaviour was closely monitored and was acceptable. "It is not unusual for our corporate supporters to entertain guests who have an allegiance to the visiting club; it happens here at Ewood Park and at every other ground in the Premier League. "However, it was most regrettable that on Saturday the reaction from guests in a corporate box to Middlesbrough scoring should prompt an incident and lead to arrests. "Feelings were running high at that stage in the Blackburn End and it was clear that many of our supporters felt that action had been taken against fans for standing. "We do have an issue with a small minority of our supporters standing in home areas and it is clearly opportune at this stage to outline our policy towards persistent standing in seated areas. "The policy of insisting that spectators remain seated is one that is prescribed by The 1989 Football Spectators Act. We all accept that supporters will stand at times of high drama and for goalmouth incidents but persistent standing is unacceptable. This is reinforced within our Safety Certificate issued and monitored by our local authority. "We understand that one of the biggest sources of complaint is our supporters' perception that there is one rule for them and another for away supporters. 5. Cocker I wasnt refering to our technical wizzard. I wouldnt suggest the person concerned is a nerd as I dont know him personaly, I am refering to the facial features in the photo.
  6. Rovers Turkish International Tugay has expressed his anger regarding press reports. The official Rovers web site is reporting that Tugay has denied press reports that he is unsettled and unhappy at Rovers, quoting the midfielder as saying. "I have been associated with various comments suggesting that there is disharmony at Blackburn. I would like to make it clear that I made no such comments, and, to the contrary, I am enjoying playing at Rovers more than ever. I wish to support Mark Hughes and the new management team in ensuring that we go from strength to strength."
  7. That looks so much like someone off this site its unbelievable.
  8. Maybe the entire Blackburn End should stand for 90 minutes and just sing, Chuck us all out, chuck us all out! Whilst I understand where your coming from, protests of this nature should be the last resort. In the first instance those who feel agrieved should make peacefull protest by writting to the club, in particular John Williams. Spending the afternoon chanting inviting the authorities to chuck you out would be better spent supporting the team. Everyone standing up chanting for the Rovers, will have a double effect. A. The team might play better. B. Fans are standing up for a specific reason, apart from causing civil disobedience.
  9. Day job hat on. There is a simple answer to the problem. Providing Rovers are prepared to spend some money. By applying a Reflective Film to one side of the glass the private box spectators can see the game, but the fans on the terraces cant see in. You can obtain privacy from window film in one of two ways; 1) By applying a Reflective Film to one side of the glass you can view a well lit area from a darker area, but they cannot see you. It works by reflecting light to give a mirrored appearance. This film has been used on reality TV shows such as Big Brother and The Salon to ensure that the cameras can see the contestants without them being aware that they are there. Also used by Police in observation rooms during identity parades to protect witnesses. 2) By applying a Frosted Film to one side of the glass, vision is totally obscured in both directions whilst natural light passes through. Personally I'd install the second option
  10. Rovers Reserves collected maximum points tonight against Newcastle with a solitary goal after 15 minutes when striker Jamal Johnson waltzed around Titus Bramble to rifled home a right foot shot from 15 yards. Newcastle: Caig, Taylor, Hughes, Smylie (Webster 78), Johnsen (Brennan 24), Bramble, Brittain, Howe (Walton 63), Bates, Guy, Cave. Subs: Gate, Bartlett. Rovers: Enckelman, Peers, McEveley, Douglas, Todd (Fitzgerald 78), Bruce, Donnelly, Harkins, Gallagher, Johnson, De Pedro (Morgan 75). Crowd: 667
  11. Paul, I started a thread back in September, regarding the commitment of players. Especially the foreign players on the books and I questioned whether we would get more commitment from locally developed players. What was the response.
  12. Typical Dingle, posting in the wrong thread. should have been posted in the Away Travel Guide
  13. Did anyone else have their Dino-card checked yesterday. As I entered the Turnstyle G, I was unpolitely asked to show my dino-card to the steward.
  14. They know Dickov at Leicester - relegated Matteo at Leeds - relegated Neill at Millwall - 1st div Reid at Millwall - 1st div Gray at Sunderland - 1st div Amoruso at Post Office - pension counter
  15. Match Report by Scotty The only change from our last game was a surprising one - Reid in for Jansen. This forced a reshuffle with Emerton playing on the left and Reid taking Emerton's position on the right. The one thing I couldn't work out was why Short was on the bench. If you're fit enough to be sub surely you're fit enough to start, and Short should start every game he can. Anyway, we started with more or less the same formation as we played against Villa, except that Djorkaeff was maybe pushed a bit further forward today. Boro lined up like-for-like, playing JFH up front on his own. The first half was just a battle. Both teams cancelled each other out, Boro showed no ambition at all and we weren't much better, and both teams were guilty of making late tackles and leaving a foot in. In what was a niggly first half, it became clear fairly early on that someone might get sent off, and Tugay duely did. In the book of stupid sending offs, Tugay's name has got to be close to the top. His first booking was for a needless deliberate handball - his second was for a ridiculous two-footed lunge. Both cards were fully deserved. He cost us the game. Almost immediately Boro looked more threatening but we kept them out until half time. There's the old cliche in football that it's hard to play against ten men - not aginst Rovers it isn't. We were simply pathetic in the second half. Boro changed things tactically at half time. They replaced a full back with a striker and switched to 3-5-2, with their wide men almost playing up front in what was virtually a 3-3-4. It paid off immediately. Boro's first goal, less than three minutes into the half, saw a good pass play JFH clean through with only Gray for company. If someone can explain to me why Gray, our left back, was the only player tracking Hasslebaink on the right side of the area then I'd appreciate it. Anyway, Jimmy turned Gray inside out and scored like the class striker he is. A few minutes later the second goal came. Amoruso carelessly gave the ball away, Boro carved our defence open straight down the middle, and Boeteng scored his first goal for Boro. It was that easy. Before we'd really taken it all in Boro got a third. A good cross from their left saw JFH react quicker than any of our defence to pounce at our near post. Djorkaeff had a chance in between Boro's second and third goals, and he also had a goal rightly ruled out for offside after Boro's third goal, but we never really looked like getting back into the game and were soundly beaten in the end. Hasslebaink's hat-trick goal in the dying minutes confirmed it - and also confirmed what a class striker he is. We were solid in the first half and the game had 0-0 written all over it until the sending off, but we were awful after that. Our midfield failed to close down, our defence looked completely unorganised, and our forwards failed to hold the ball up and retain possession. We showed no fight, no passion, no pride, and no organisation at all in the second half and we were nothing short of pathetic. Our back four were awful again. Amoruso and Matteo have to be far and away the worst centre back partnership in the Premiership. They'd struggle in the Championship to be honest. Neill is just awful, as ever. Gray looks a threat going forward but gets caught out at the back too often. The biggest problem I feel though is in midfield. A central midfield of Ferguson, Tugay and Djorkaeff are just not competitive enough. None of them can tackle and, as good as they may be on the ball, that's not much use when the opposition have it. I thought Ferguson flattered to deceive today. He showed good touches and played some good passes but he didn't track back or cover like a proper central midfielder should. Djorkaeff was class when he had the ball but anonymous when he hadn't, and the less said about Tugay the better. I'm surprised to see the general slating of Reid's performance today. I thought he did well and was probably man of the match. He was easily our most competitive midfielder and he frequently left his right wing to cover for the inadequacies of his fellow midfielders. I also thought he looked composed on the ball and provided most of the little drive and determination we had. Emerton was again one of our better players but he lacked the sharpness he's shown in the last few games. Up front, I thought Dickov was fairly awful. His first touch was diabolical today and Southgate marked him out of the match easily. Stead came on and looked slightly better but Boro were going through the motions by then. All in all we were shocking today in the second half. But we've got to remember that we had a man sent off and, before that, we looked at least the equal of Boro. Also we had some key men away on international duty which won't have helped. However, there's some obvious problems defensively throughout the team, but Short coming back and Flitcroft coming in for the suspended Tugay should help. Sadly, our next two fixtures aren't exactly encouraging. We've got big problems and I suspect we're going to be scrapping down at the bottom for most of the season. Whether we can climb up the table depends on what our manager can do during the January transfer window. Rovers : Friedel, Neill, Amoruso (Short 63), Matteo, Gray, Emerton, Ferguson, Tugay, Reid, Djorkaeff (Jansen 78), Dickov (Stead 60). Subs Not Used: Pedersen, Enckelman. Red card : Tugay (30). 16. I cant disagree with that. the Clubs hands are governed by the Safety at Grounds Act and Local Bye Laws. However heavy handed ejection of supporters, ie throwing them down steps, will alienate the club from the people who pay their wages. Continued practices of this nature by the stewards and the club wont have to worry about breaking regulations as there wont be any fans in the ground. As the chant this afternoon suggested the club is s######'on its own fans. No action is being carried out against away supporters. And before someone says its difficult to control a thousand or so away supporters, they could start by sending stewards into the hospitality boxes. I for one am sick and tired of the abuse given to Rovers supporters by the prawn brigade protected by their glass screens.
  17. A goal by George Boateng and a hat trick by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, gave Middlesbrough a 4-0 win against a 10 man Rovers this afternoon. With the game only 30 minutes old, Rovers went down to 10 men after Tugay was sent off for his second yellow card of the game. Tugay having already been booked for a delibarate handball left referee Mike Riley with no option but to send off the midfielder after he had tackled Mendieta from behind. Although Rovers had held out until half time, they went down 1-0 shortly after the restart, when Hasselbaink, collected Downing's through ball and turned the Rovers defence, before rifling home a left-foot shot past Friedel. Boro's second on 50 minutes came from Boateng who converted Mendieta's pass in to the penalty area. Hasselbaink sidefooted home the third for Brough, from another Downing pass in the 57th minute, and scored again towards the end to get his hat trick. Rovers : Friedel, Neill, Amoruso (Short 63), Matteo, Gray, Emerton, Ferguson, Tugay, Reid, Djorkaeff (Jansen 78), Dickov (Stead 60). Subs Not Used: Pedersen, Enckelman. Red card : Tugay (30). Yellow card : Matteo. Middlesbrough: Schwarzer, McMahon, Riggott, Southgate, Parnaby (Nemeth 45), Mendieta (Morrison 80), Parlour, Boateng, Zenden, Downing, Hasselbaink. Subs Not Used: Ehiogu, Bates, Nash. Yellow card: McMahon. Goals: Hasselbaink 46, Boateng 50, Hasselbaink 57, 90. Attendance : 20,385 Ref: M Riley
  18. aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I hate stats like that, especially when Rovers are involved. Looks like a shed full of goals and max points for Borough.
  19. den remember waggy when choosing left side
  20. ok Brotherston could play both sides. but for me he played mainly right wing with wagstaff on the left.
  21. Colin, I applaude you. Very well argued you get my vote. People remember the good things and forget the bad.
