You cant do that Capt, you'd upset the red tops and their reporters would be beating about it all day. Got so fed up of talksport this morning going on and on about players not giving interviews that I started to sympathise with the players.

It's ok bob, I'm playing devil's advocate and deleting the drivel.

John Williams told the club's official website yesterday 8.9.04: "There has been a big response to the vacancy, as expected. "A number of high quality candidates have thrown their hats into the ring and we are now in a position to draw up a shortlist with a view to making an early appointment if possible."
-
Bearing in mind the only direct quotes attributed to John Williams are. The interesting part being. we are now in a position to draw up a shortlist yet reading back through the post here and through the media, there are a number of speculative remarks and comments being written and posted. Unless there is insider leaks, I would suggest a lot of media comments are just opportunities to fill back pages or to influence betting prices. Yesterday Moyes, Dowie and Macarthy were the names in the frame and last night there was a big debate regarding Peter Reid, could this be a ploy to divert betting to allow the bookies to lay off losses should the heavily backed Hughes gets the job. Interestingly from somewhere the story has risen that Strachan hasnt applied, has John Williams released a list of applicants or is there a mole in his office. Whilst it's exciting to speculate, and thats what a fans message board is all about I dont think people should pannick when the names of people like Reid, Glenda etc are bandied about. None of us will know who the new manager is untill JWcalls a press conference to announce that Rovers once again are to be front runners in the Football World. When team selections and transfers are to be agreed by a brfcs.com members who will submit poll each week.

I need to lie down.

Once again www.brfcs.com are the front runners in all that is Blue and White as they launch “The History of Blackburn Rovers”, section to the site. Currently the first part of The History Section which we are opening up to members and visitors to the site provides information and details of the club up to the year 1900. When fully completed I doubt whether such a detailed history of the club will have every been posted on the world wide web. In fact I would go so far as saying that I doubt whether a more comprehensive detailed account of the clubs history has ever been published in one document. Members and visitors to the site I'm sure will appreciate the hard work and research put in to The History Section, by it's author FourLaneBlue who has spent hours, nay months compiling The History Section. I dread to think how much of his spare time FourLaneBlue have given freely to compile the History Section, which for years to come will be a central reference point for all those with any interest in Blackburn Rovers Football Club. Words of praise and appreciation should also go to Clare, who in conjunction with FourLaneBlue has spent pain staking hours transforming details in to a pc friendly format, whilst developing the History Section web pages. Once you have had a chance to digest the contents of The History Section, you will realise what an illustrious past the club has had and why the club is in the hearts of so many, no more so than one of the clubs greatest supporters and benefactors, Sir Jack Walker, who has a section dedicated solely and quite rightly to himself. All visitors to the site are reminded the History Section is subject to copyright © BRFCS.com and contributing members. Reproduction in any form without written permission is not allowed. Whilst the supporters will speculate and the bookies will adjust their odds on who will take over the hot seat at Ewood, Mr Williams will have the unenviable task of sorting out the wheat from the chaff, to ensure that the right appointment is made for the future prospects of the club. Quite rightly Mr Williams stated yesterday. "I've set myself a target of two to three weeks to make an appointment, but we're not going to rush into anything. If our first choice ends up being someone who is employed elsewhere and it means taking a little longer, that's got to be worth waiting for" If the betting odds are to be believed, then former Rovers striker and current Wales manager Mark Hughes is favourite to take over from Souness, however Hughes yesterday distanced himself from the speculation stating. "Every time a position becomes free, people will link or try to make a link with managers and ex-players. I don't deal in ifs and maybes and I don't anticipate that they will call." Although he didn't categorically rule himself out, stating that he still has "feelings" for the club. The major stumbling block in Hughes's appointment is his patriotism and commitment to gaining World Cup qualification for Wales, who play Northern Ireland tonight and then face England and Poland next month. This could reflect on John William's comment that he wont be rushed into anything, bearing in mind that after the 13th October, Wales and Hughes will have a five-month break, before the next WC qualifying game. A period in which he would be able to bed himself in to the Ewood hot seat, with the option of continuing his National duties on a part time basis, utilising Blackburn's state of the art academy as a training ground for the Welsh squad. Whilst Hughes is currently one of the supporters favorite choices for the job, John Williams reported yesterday that the club had received over 20 applicants for the vacancy, stating. "Many of those who have contacted us have serious credentials," If the media are to be believed there are a number of other managers in the frame, Gordon Strachan, Mike Newell, Dick Advocaat, Mick Macarthy etc. So Mr Williams will have a difficult job sorting his mail out this morning, all I hope and I suspect a lot of supporters will be of the same mind is that, when he come across a former England managers c.v. Mr William's secretary will have the task of sending out the obligatory letter Thanks Glenda, I regret to inform you that your application has been unsuccessful.

Rovers, Chief Executive John Williams will open his post this morning, hoping that amongst the pile of applicants for the post of manager, one c.v. stands out and smacks him in the face. Mr Williams stated yesterday. "I've set myself a target of two to three weeks to make an appointment, but we're not going to rush into anything. If our first choice ends up being someone who is employed elsewhere and it means taking a little longer, that's got to be worth waiting for" If the betting odds are to be believed, then former Rovers striker and current Wales manager Mark Hughes is favourite to take over from Souness. Whilst Sparky is currently one of the supporters favorite choices for the job, John Williams reported yesterday that the club had received over 20 applicants for the vacancy, stating. "Many of those who have contacted us have serious credentials," If the media are to be believed there are a number of other managers in the frame, Gordon Strachan, the former, Coventry and Southampton manager, former Rovers striker and current Luton manager Mike Newell and late yesterday afternoon former Holland and Rangers manager Dick Advocaat was gaining a lot of interest with the bookmaker. Very ironic that the man who once stabbed Jack Walker in the back by changing his mind on becoming Rovers manager could be instramental in the appointment of Rovers new manager. Within the next month Wales play 3 WORLD CUP qualifying games, N.Ireland tomorrow night followed by the clash against Svens brat pack. The failure to pick up maximum points could sway Hughes into going into club management. Can we wait untill the middle of October
