  1. Once you're not picky Isn't that the truth!
  2. Frightening isn't it..really drives home the almost impossible task our club faces off the field of play. It's expected really, we simply don't have a big catchment area As for impossible, well it depends what you're aiming at. City are in a mess financially despite having access to all that money, we're in relative control. I think to keep us financially safe we must lower our expectations - mid table mediocracy will do me thankyou very much.
  3. I smelt trouble at the Bridge months ago We don't have much hope in getting any of those fringe players btw On a side note, Tottenham must be p*ssed, Chelsea have taken their mantle as the team linked to everybody (though they actually come through )
  4. You might want to add a complete lack of tactical nouse to that list As for Gresko, well he's been frozen out because he didn't play well as, basically, a left wingback - which is understandable. If he had been given the cover Gray has been afforded by Douglas then we'd be singing the praises of Gresko this year
  5. Is that because it'd attract media attention? Sorry but I don't want to pay a guy £40k a week easy when he's been past it for two years. We loaned another bloke on name alone and look how sh!te he was
  6. Wow, talk about a crock of sh*t! How can you say that in complaint when you've just said: So if black players weren't established in football in the the 70's how do you expect them to be in coaching and managerial roles thirty years later?? The first black players to break through professionally will only have become realistically eligible for such roles ten years ago. Now as the number of black players increases their chances of becoming involved in the coaching side of the game increases. This is another journalist who's blown it all out of proportion, that makes two and I've seen and I've hardly been following the story
  7. Did anyone see the Trevor McDonald news at half ten interview? That was a great example of pathetic reporting, the bloke (no idea who he was btw) interupted Ron on three seperate occasions suggesting he's racist and Ron, to his credit, thorougly denied it without resorting picking up the chair he was sitting on and smashing the reporter with it. I know I felt like doing it!
  8. So contracting a hitman on Souness' life is funny to you Everyone should have donated a £5 note (crisp, if you like) and the total offered to Souness as the Golden Handshake
  9. Souness has got to go, but there is no-one we can put in to replace him. How long is his contract? Got to be at least 2 years left on it, so the board would have to pay him £2m they don't have to get rid - and you know he's not going to resign. Today was a shambles, the back four were competent (except for Babbel) - people will blame them for the four goals, but do you have any idea how hard it is to defend when the opposition's midfield is given the run of the park?? Countless times today Gerrard and Riise breezed through our midfield like it wasn't there, and they popped up all around the box unmarked. Whoever has coached these fellows not to track back needs to be thrown out on the street, it's schoolboy. The Liverpool midfield could pick any pass they damn well wanted today. Stead and Gallagher chased everything, but had no service - midfield again I was surprised to see how many goals we'd scored this season on recent performances One thing I'd like to add - why is Tugay still on the pitch . We're in a dogfight people, one where every player has to pull their weight defensively - Tugay couldn't tackle or shadow me, and I'm a decidedly average attacker even at my level. Sure he can pick that beautiful pass now and again, but that's not enough anymore. My team (I know you guys don't give a flying expletive): Neill (at least he adds some steel) - rb Gresko (competent defender when he has cover) - lb Todd (player of the season, reads the game well) - cb Short (old, but his experience makes him a better option that Nissa) - cb Emerton (unfortunately we have no other options, I'd tell him to play defensively here) - rm Gray (competent going forward, has a left foot, can cover for Gresko - our best option here) - lm Andresen (neat, tidy player who does his fair share of work) - cm Douglas (not the most talented individual, but will die for the cause. Puts himself about more than Flitcroft) - cm Cole (attitude stinks, but the talent is still there) - sc Stead (a goal poacher, we hope, and works his socks off - defending starts from the front) - sc
  10. Well he's hardly going to breakdown and cry screaming "We're Doomed, doooooooooooooomed." Having said that maybe he did but asked them not to report it
  11. Out of interest who is for Souness to stay if we stay up?
  12. I questioned the Amo signing, the transfer fee for the Ferguson signing, and the Yorke signing. I would question the transfer fee of the Cole signing, but he kept us up. I praised the Gresko signing, was cautious about the Gray signing, was happy about the Emerton signing and was happy with the Stead signing (though a little pricey at the time).
  13. Well you're a bagful of laughs aren't you
  14. I've said somewhere that dropping down a division would be curtains for the club, but for some sick and twisted reason the accountant in me still sees it as a way of the club surviving folding. As for there being no business model that could accomodate such a drop - this is coming from a man who spends what 75% of the teams income on freakin wages!! I'm not having a go at the executives, but they clearly need someone with a logical head running the money matters, that's not a sustainable business model in itself
  15. For the future of the club being relegated might actually be the best idea - in terms of jumping into the fire that's making us hot. We're seriously overpaying the players and going down would force us to sort out the business side of the club - of course I couldn't see us making it back to the Prem running the club like a business, simply not enough funds coming in
  16. You planning on playing 5 in midfield If we stay up we should invest in a flying left winger, Thompson's rehabilitation and a quality centre half.
  17. I know, sorry what was meant to come across was that those two mentioned managers have man management skills and apparent transfer skills that Souness does not
  18. Arrogance is only one of the needed qualities
  19. Well thank you. Proves my point exactly. You never see a solitary goose do you? Soft little chavs, always have to hang around in gangs 'cos they're too soft to go out alone. Swans. Hard enough to hang about by themselves And no one has ever had their arm broken by a bloomin' goose. I rest my case. It was getting really heavy. So you're discriminating against geese because they have friends?! What kind of animal are you You never hear of geese breaking people's arms because they're smart like that - they don't need the bad rep. Swans swan around knowing they've got the Queen and all her armies backing them up , they're royalty and can do as they damn well please!
  20. Hats off to you spark! I think an extra word is required between Johnny and Stead, or before the Johnny. There's definitely work needing done, but the tune is great, and the last line is about right. How about - He scores when we're playing at home, He always scores with his head, He scored another goal about an hour ago, And there's only one Jon Stead! Version 3: Show us the way to score goals, Score them with your feet and with your head. We know you're gonna score another couple of goals, Cos your name is Jonny Stead! version 4: He shows us the way to score goals, Scores with his feet and his head, He scored a little goal about an hour ago, and his name is Jonny Stead! We should get people singing that in the Blackburn end
  21. The question is though...do you have the guts to get up in the middle of the Blackburn End and sing that one? Can't see the lines "I've never seen so many fans ask you if you wanted to dance Looking for a little romance" going down too well...football fans aren't that well known for getting in touch with their feminine side! Well, apart from Elton John obviously. I'll do it, just get me a ticket in the Blackburn End.....I'll even trade you a ticket in the Jack Walker Stand
  22. Back to the original topic - Big Ron had it right when he stated it's all psychological. Geese are mental, Swans are not. Ok sure Swans have the physical potential to be the dominant birds in this fighting class, but when it comes down to it, it's all about the will to win. Geese want to win - not just for the glory, but because it makes them feel hard. That makes this a non-contest in my opinion - unless the Swan has gone intensive psychological training to get a bit mental itself, then it's a close run thing.
  23. Fair do's to him though, he jokingly linked that to Leeds' great decision to fire him As for Leeds - I'm not up to date on the whole situation, but can anybody explain why they keep getting deferrals for a week or two at a time? Shouldn't they be paying the piper by now?!
