  1. If, as the Notts reporter says, it would take 14 million, with a significant sell-on (why the hell should we take that kind of risk to not even see all the profit?) just to make them 'seriously consider' it, we should walk away immediately. Frankly, I wouldn't be looking to pay 8 million for the kid either. Spend it elsewhere, or loan a striker and revisit it in January or summer. Even a cheap lower league punt is preferable to spunking our load on a kid who isn't on the Forest bench and isn't close to proven enough. It would give us time to scout cheap markets like the French one - that Brentford lad who has 5 already this season cost just over a million from the French leagues and is 22. It would be disappointing, especially after this speculation and the figures being bandied around, but I'd genuinely prefer the old chestnut of 'keep our powder dry' if this is the best we can do. This deal makes me uncomfortable at anything more than 5 million, and it's clear we wouldn't get him at that price at all. Bored of it. Hope TM has another iron in the fire.
  2. Lenihan definitely isn't a better player than Dack. Dack is the best, most complete player we have seen at the club since we lost our Prem status. Lenihan, meanwhile, we have barely seen in CM, and not for a long while I believe. I'm sure he'd be good there, but it is the most well stocked position on the pitch and he is streets ahead of Downing in defence. But you're entitled to your opinion, of course.
  3. Surely Bennett in CM and Lenihan in defence rather than Downing.
  4. I've said before, but need to say again - these are not 'deadlines'. That's not what deadline means. The deadlines are the transfer window and the loan window. TM has never set any of these days as a 'deadline'. Targets perhaps, or just hopes he is deigning to share with us. That said, I do think it is getting ridiculous. He would actually be better keeping it to himself. Especially since people have a tendency to mistake hopes and targets for promises and deadlines. All he is doing is creating false expectations and showing just how badly the window isn't going to plan so far.
  5. Mickey Mouse club, but not a Mickey Mouse team. Highly unlikely to be a walkover in the Park.
  6. Box to box? When I saw he had 1 goal in his 73 game career, I didn't think box to box at all. Implies he is better nearer one box than the other. But not seen him, will defer to others.
  7. I'd guess a defender and this 'not expensive' deal for Rodwell. Doubt he would disclose that one if it wasn't very close.
  8. Anichebe...a 30 year old striker with a career goal return of less than one every six games (about one in seven in league games). His best ever goal return in a season was 8, 6 of them in the league. Maybe on pay as you play, to let Nuttall go on loan, but hopefully as an extra rather than main striker buy.
  9. I'm so glad I was talking a load of old bollocks.
  10. Only way it could be going worse is if Graham breaks his leg. 3 of our 4 best attackers are not on the pitch and we are 2 down. Writing this one off right now. Be amazed if we get even a draw. Didn't need this tonight, got something I have to be focussed for.
  11. This has always been the Rovers way though. I don't fear the top of the table teams on the 20 match unbeaten run. I fear the god awful dross with 2 points from the last 18.
  12. Yes, midweek Champs fixtures are all supposed to be available on Sky.
  13. What does that mean, play his way out of Charlton?
  14. Ok so you said we don't have enough soldiers for our soldiers:artists balance. You then named 12 players and listed 3 as definite soldiers, 3 soldiers in spirit, 2 sometimes soldiers, 1 soldier in the making, and 1 you admit you have no idea yet. There were only 2 players out of 12 you mentioned then described as having no soldier in them at all. One of those was the goalie, who simply doesn't count. Not sure what your concern is? Seems enough rough and tumble to me. And teams have hated playing against us as we harry them all game (except first half Millwall).
  15. We should dominate possession in this one, which makes me wonder whether Graham, with his hold up play and intellgence, will be a better bet than Armstrong, whose pace is lethal when there is space. I can't see pointless Reading coming to win this one, they will park the bus.
  16. Haven't seen anyone write him off, and I have read this thread a lot. People just have very reasonable reservations and wonder if the money can be better spread out. I don't get why people always have to jump to extreme statements on this board (not just you).
  17. As far as I'm aware, he has not said he wants to keep him, nor that he is unavailable. Not heard even a rumour of that either, only assumptions.
  18. True, but I don't think we are. Mowbray has mentioned Chapman in the same breath as Armstrong before in his assessment of where targets were at, and we know how that turned out. There may be some little disagreement over fee etc, or possibly Mowbray is waiting to see how the big money bids go, to see what he can spare. I doubt he is off the radar altogether.
  19. Huh, where did you get the 93 games from? Guess the one I found wasn't accurate. Didn't think it made any sense.
  20. A 21 year old midfielder/striker from Northern Irish football who doesn't even have a wikipedia page. Very random. I wonder what the situation was there. Good goals record it seems (16 in 20) and yet only gets a handful of games a season despite being prolific for the last 5 when he does play. Do they only have a few games a season over there or something? And everyone is always scoring? If not this is a weird one. Injury prone maybe, unless this site's stats are incomplete. http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=81743&season_id=151
  21. On another day we'd have thrashed them, actually.
  22. I'm always terrified of these games where we miss so many gilt edged chances...they have a tendency to end a certain way...
