Oops, I actually did see both of those, must have forgotten about them by the time I got to the bottom of the fixtures! Apologies. I know quite a few struggled and some needed penalties, but all that matters is who got to the next round, which is (almost!) the maximum Champs teams that could have. Shame one or two more didn't go out. It's nice to have easy games early on, gives you a chance of a real run and lets you focus on the league for a while.
-
Looks like the next round could be tough...I might have missed one somewhere, but looking over the results I didn't see one Championship side knocked out by lower league opposition. A few knocked out, but by other Championship teams.
-
Didn't even make the bench. Unless he had a knock, surely it has to be him we almost have over the line. Not really any other feasible explanation if there is no injury (or personal crisis I guess) involved. Well, I suppose some other team could be close to signing him.

Very confused by who TM has brought off, in terms of squad balance. Rothwell, and probably Armstrong and Palmer, all seem like players who should have got the whole 90 for fitness. Unless TM doesn't think Arma and Palmer can play 90 tonight and 90 at the weekend I guess. Dack, as I said before, and Mulgrew, seem like players who could use the rest to be sharp for Saturday. Very strong result though, and some great goals.

It was a joke. I'm just saying if it is a minor, superficial injury that will definitely heal, not his hammy again.
-
Cr@p. Unless it's just a grazed knee or something, we can probably rule him out then. ...or get him even cheaper....

Seen the first 3 goals on Twitter now thanks to Kamy (@northern_rover) First goal is lovely, although Carlisle left way too much space and their left back really should have been tucking in far earlier. Second goal is horrendous from their goalkeeper but a ruthless finish from Dack. Third goal is just sublime from Dack, similar technique on the first touch to how he controlled the ball before assisting Arma for the first, but even better as it was passed to him at pace by Travis. Need to bring Dack off at half time, bring Palmer into the middle. Rothwell on the flank, and Whittingham in Rothwell's slot. I know we plan to play Palmer wider, but it would also be handy to see how he serves as a Dack replacement if we lose our talisman at some stage. We need to know if we can function without him, and if we can't do that against Carlisle it'd be a worry. Would take Mulgrew off around the 60 minute mark too.

Boro 2-1 down to Notts County from a Jon Stead goal! Be nice if they lose - even if Chapman has a reasonable game, reserve players often get ruled out en masse when they lose to lower league opposition in cups.

Is that not just radio?

If you're not fit, and you play three 90 minutes in a week, you get injured, and you certainly look knackered well into the third game. Playing a 90 minute game each Saturday will get him fit, with maybe a 30 minute cameo tonight.
-
I would also have rested him for Downing. The rest of the lineup I agree with
-
If he isnt fit, he will be truly fucked before 90 mins against Hull, which is a far more important game. Should have been on the bench for this, ready to come on and change it.
-
Jesus christ. Fantastic start, but does go to show this lineup is overkill, which was my impression as soon as I saw it. If we go 3 up, Dack should come off immediately. This early in the season, he needs to be fresh for Hull. I was bemused that he started, even if it sounds like he was involved in Arma's goal too.

Not having a go Chaddy, but I'd rather read a bit of a digression of topic (as long as it doesn't go on forever) than have the same people saying the same things about the same targets over and over and over, and having the same arguments, which is what happens most days.

I'm sorry but Kevin Davies WAS a dolloper at Rovers, relative to price and expectation. We wouldn't have had to sell him back for a fraction of the price, only for him to be released by Southampton a further 4 years down the line, otherwise. Simply because he eventually went on to be a good player at a middling Prem team that suited him, several seasons after he played for us, does not rewrite history. We were trying to get back in the elite at the time (a level he never reached) and he was our record buy at the time, being talked about as a new Shearer. Is it any wonder our fans deemed his 1 goal return in a season we got relegated as anything other than dolloping? Lost Beattie in the deal too. Kevin f*%£ing Davies. Please. One of the worst deals we ever did. Still angry about it!!

Fact check: Saying something is likely is not the same as a deadline.

Thanks Yoda.

I think Davenport was brought in with the same deep-lying playmaker role in mind, just that TM thinks he isn't quite ready for it yet and wants someone who is.

Actually, you'll drift aimlessly for a century (best case scenario using currently untested tech) in the desolate abyss of space, until eventually your cold corpse possibly reaches the nearest star. Hopefully not an exact analogy for our fate.

Well, we've drawn our first two games, but last season we lost our first two, so in a way it's progress! Especially in a tougher league. First half we were abysmal though, Millwall were dominant and could have been two up by half time and it wouldn't have been unfair on us. Second half was a vast improvement. On balance, a draw was fair. Rothwell looked bright in his cameo, may have more to offer than I previously thought. Palmer has had nothing but praise on here so far...but I don't agree all the way. I'm excited about him, he does look promising and like he can make things happen, certainly, and has a good turn of pace and quick feet. However, so far, I feel he is a little like a Championship Raheem Sterling - the one at the World Cup, not the one on fire for City last year. Flattering to deceive, making the wrong decisions at times. Sometimes he looked a little too casual and like he has to turn on the flair every time he gets the ball. I'm sure Tony will drill that out of him though, and I'm very excited to see what he can deliver when that happens. He can definitely provide that X factor when he settles in. I think it's time to drop Smallwood, and Bell should retain his spot. Arma didn't do much today, but I'd rather have him where Benno was, and Bennett in place of Smallwood.
-
Very attacking down our left side today (according to the LT predicted formation) with both Palmer and Bell starting. I do wonder if it might leave us with some vulnerabilities down that side from counters though (although at least Bell is quick so could charge back if he isnt too far up). Wonder if we would be better switching Palmer and Bennett's flanks. Who do Millwall play down the right? Edit - nevermind, looks like Bennett on the left after all.
-
To be honest though, not being funny but that's incredibly sad, to waste a day off work just to keep an eye on the window closing, and in no way the club's fault. I hope they had other things they were doing too. Mowbray has been clear he won't panic buy today and intends to use the loan window with perm deals worked in, if we don't get the right deals today.
-
Yep very likely some agent-'leaked' rumours in these coming out now. What's interesting is that we haven't been used in fake rumours to drum up interest earlier in the window. I suspect it is only happening now because we finally splashed out, on Arma, so now the claims of having money finally sound believable and we can be used. I'd expect we do have bids in for quite a few, but we weren't hearing about them before. Some of these will be true, but I doubt it's simply that Ewood has sprung a huge leak suddenly.
-
Those exact players and team, of course not. But I'm not remotely surprised he reached that level, no. Rated him when he was here, disappointed we sold him, and fully expected him to go on to better things. Just didn't get the luck or runs in the team at the right times with us, and wasn't a Big Sam type of striker. I'm not being revisionist either, I'm confident you could find posts from me at the time saying similar. I wasn't alone either.
