Southgate is right to play at the back and play out from the back mainly, Smalling has played 37 games this season for Man Utd but not sure he suited to play the ball out from the back Cahill was picked of he plays in a back 3 and understand that role but this season he has been poor despite playing 35 games for Chelsea. whilst Maguire has been very good for England and Leicester and deserve to start. Stones is very talented and will start. its who will partner him and Maguire. should it been Gomez or Dier or possibly Walker or Jones. I would take Gomez and use Dier in centre midfielder as holding midfielder Cook is a very talented midfielder and someone I would be developing and using at this level I don't see an exposed England Sqaud, I see a England squad not scared with the some old mentality of the past and scared to play the football they can.

The Germany coach Low had a very poor CV before he got the Germany job. So did Coleman before Wales job. What are your expectations for Southgate then? Matt you are spot on about Test cricket around the world isn't well attended. Indian fans aren't mad about test cricket but one day/twenty20 cricket is their focus I love test cricket a lot more than one day or twenty20 cricket. Plus Walker look good enough as centre back in a 3 man team. Midfield:- Henderson played well yesterday and probably played himself into the starting 11. Wilshere is a must if fit. Oxlade Chamberlain is playing well in centre midfield for Liverpool. I would take Lewis Cook who is form for Bournemouth. Ali is playing poor for Spurs atm and last night was awful. probably played himself out of the starting line up. Plus Sterling, Lingard and Lallana. Strikers:- Kane, Rashford and Vardy are automatic choices for 3 of the 4 spots. the other spot is wide open and whether you want to take a extra defender and use Dier as midfielder, or take extra centre midfielder(Livermore) and use Sterling as a striker which is very tempting at the minute, Or take Welbeck or Sturridge.
