  1. To be fair Paul, you give it the positive 'lets see' every window. Invariably, I think it's fair to say you've been underwhelmed by the end of each window. So 4 weeks till the season starts and as you say, no head of recruitment and a dof who's only worked with youth. A manager who failed to attract one of his old players. I like the appointment of JDT but the whole thing has the venky stench of an underwhelming transfer window. No doubt with the sale of Brereton late on!
  2. So to summarise so far. We need six signings. The decent scandanavian based players don't seem to be attainable. The better league 1/2 prospects have been snapped up. 4 weeks till the season starts.
  3. That doesn't bode overly well for the attacking prowess of 2 potential targets😂
  4. If we are looking to 'bring in 6' then previous experience would suggest that 5 of those will be on loan. Need at least 4-5 first team permanent signings if this window is to be considered successful - in my humble opinion. Not convinced.
  5. The underlying costs for all clubs are bound to have risen over the last couple of years - Just like they have for every single house hold in the UK. I'm not sure why he's whinging about it. Perhaps replacing the pitch when they said they would - would have been more cost effective long term🤷🏻‍♂️. Ultimately though if the squad ends up stronger than last year by the end of the window, that's what matters.
  6. Aren't the academy and pitches FFP exempt? Shouldn't be an issue with our illustrious owners never refusing a cheque.
  7. It would also look a lot better, if rovers already had replacements imminent or through the door. Surely they must have a long list drawn up. They've known for 6 months. New manager yes, but the pool of players won't be much different.
  8. I imagine Dack will be starting on the bench under JDT. I think 3-4 years ago he may have adapted to a press but not now. A player to come on against tiring teams I'd suggest now.
  9. Gallagher would be have been a decent shout in a 4-4-2 big guy, little guy scenario. He'll work hard, chase things down and maybe get you 10 goals a season. That type of player may suit JDT and his pressing game...Gallagher won't suddenly become a 20 goal plus machine though. Rovers issue under Mowbray was goals from other areas - notably midfield/set pieces etc. Adding goals through the team may be more beneficial than spending (relative) fortunes on an out an out scorer.
  10. I also agree. We were told that the manager would be here first...then we had interviews, then interviews about the interviews, then more 'interest' and interviews. Meanwhile, *somebody* identified Broughton and got him in. JDT stated in his arrival press conference that the project found him. That suggests he wasn't part of the interview process and was 'head hunted' also -probably by Broughton. Now in fairness, that's exactly how manager recruitment at a football club should be done. Hats off. However, It clearly wasn't being done effectively before the involvement of the external agency.
  11. Surely we need to be looking at a different pool than the same names dredged up every year. Be very uninspiring if he was the first through the door with our new 'European' regime.
  12. Southgate is tactically useless. He's a younger Mowbray. Negative. Awful.
  13. If it is JDT then it is in the 'could have been worse category'. Hopefully he is a breath of fresh air. That said, any optimism will be irrelevant if there isn't a decent wage/transfer budget.
  14. Yup. Hypothetically then... Who would you want chasing after a through ball Rankin Costello, Gallagher or Khadrah?
  15. I think we are singing from the same hymn sheet pace wise. At least one of the front 3 needs to be seriously rapid. Our biggest issue pace wise is the lack of quick full backs. 3-4 quick players in a side is essential these days.
  16. He didn't look it in his fleeting appearances. A bit like Dolan. Small, tricky but not blistering pace like a Khadrah or Bellamy.
