  1. This can't be the right guy. Waggot said we were getting a number 10, not a flighty winger.
  2. I'd throw Kante in with that lot. Quality. That Spanish side full of midgets ten years ago were technically superb and could just pass teams ragged, regardless of size. Our midfield is too small and not technically good enough to compete with physical sides. Our big lads up top are both weak in the air for their size.
  3. Maybe we will get 2 decent wingers. There is every chance they are more attainable than a goal scoring striker. Perhaps Mowbray has had an epiphany and will now play his two 6ft 4 strikers as strikers not wingers. Probably not though.
  4. Can't imagine there is anyone worth loaning from Scotland. Any decent young player will be established in the first team so why would they loan him out? Wonder if it is Matty Longstaff from Newcastle. Rumoured to be going out on loan and a local airport!
  5. I'm not talking about grabbing Gazza's bollocks - but The direct, ball in the air, playing for set pieces and throw ins approach with a team full of 6ft plus lads.
  6. A club willing to take the direct ' old school direct' approach of the 80s Wimbledon and Beck's Cambridge would have a great chance of getting out of this league. Don't get me wrong, not a fan of that style of football, but given the current approach of tippy tappy possession football, a team taking that approach may well upset the applecart. We won't do it but somebody will.
  7. Boro fixture is a good test now. They are beatable. A draw and that's a pretty decent start. A win and it's a dream start under the circumstances. A loss and the worry would be that heads start dropping.
  8. I've said this for years. Assemble a team of predominantly big, quick lads and it scares the death out of most teams at this level. They don't have to be that good technically. Reading went close last year, their team dwarfed ours and out - muscled them from the start. We have neither the physicality or the pace in our side. It never seems to get addressed so by default we often lose to the more physical teams. A Samba sized CB An Nzonzi sized CM Even if they are only used against certain sides. In other words a bloody plan B.
  9. So it's a kid And not from one of the big NW clubs. Doesn't bode that well. If true that's 4 loan spots filled (with the Brighton lad). The LB is bound to be a cheap Loan as it's mainly cover. That would leave one loan spot left. Most likely a CB - although I think Carter has definitely shown enough to be amongst the first team and not go out on loan. Obviously, interesting to see who it is but we don't seem to be addressing the lack of goals in the side.
  10. I don't think many would have an issue with that model. However, the model has to be with the aim of building a promotion side, not just putting players in a shop window.
  11. Ali McCann. His name cropped up in a tenuous link at some stage at some stage this summer.
  12. If it's the lad from st Johnstone that would be quality. It won't be though as that would need to be a cash buy.
  13. Who can we get that guarantees 15 goals? That is the type of return we should expect from Gallagher based on what we paid for him.
  14. Mowbray is in a bit of a hole here. I'll be very surprised if we land a striker remotely good enough to replace Armstrong - if any at all. Given the money spent, he can't justify leaving Gallagher out the team - yet refuses to play him as a striker. He clearly can't rate him as a centre forward - yet he was brought in to be Graham's successor. Shame it's not Gallagher that's out of contract next year.
  15. So loan wise we have a ball playing cm in Clarkson. We may be getting a 'number 10' Possibility of a left back. The winger from Brighton. No noise on a striker. This false 9 thing is shite. Need somebody up top .
  16. Never quite enough against any of the top 6 teams. The Mowbray way.
  17. Just read the article. It's a connundrum. Sharpe said that we could fit Obafemi's current wages within our structure. So that's a young Irish international with a few prem league appearances and goals - at an established PL club - who will no doubt pay their younger players more than ours. It's difficult to know on that evidence whether we are seriously low balling these players..or their wage demands are unreasonable. With Waggott, I would be guessing the first option. I think there will be a bit of movement, one way or the other after the window closes.
  18. Is Dolan actually that fast? He's tricky but I don't think he's got blistering pace.
