  1. Bolton is Lancashire thank you very much. Ask any Boltoner or do some research.
  2. I’m not even convinced that Mowbray would have sold Raya if he hadn’t pushed for a move. Shows a lack of decisiveness. That said, a new Number 1 with Raya as Number 2 is something we should have done as soon as Steele left. Our goalkeeping situation has been left to rot by a succession of managers and now it is coming home to roost. Robinson, Bunn, Brown, Sandomierski, Usai, Kean, Steele, Eastwood, Raya, Leutwiler We have got away with it because of the quality of centre backs we have had but now that has been neglected too we are pretty exposed.
  3. That just makes this new kit choice even more ridiculous.
  4. Who was it said that he did? Honestly can’t remember. Was it Waggott or Mowbray himself?
  5. No head melting necessary but if you can’t see why Evans isn’t the most popular player on this messageboard, stick round. By the way, “Biz” doesn’t like your post either, he just likes that you’ve had a go at me. Enjoy your Sunday too. And tell Corry it’s nothing personal.
  6. I think he genuinely believes in this ‘moments’ lark. He would rather keep a game at nil-nil for 70-80 minutes and the play football for 10-20 minutes. Trouble is, that theory evaporated when we concede goals regularly in the first 20 minutes of games. We’ve always been at our best when we attack teams. Get a goal, get a second, and keep playing attacking football. Players like Lowe, Evans, Smallwood should be the consolidation players to sees game out. Unless you have the quality of players of a Chelsea or an Arsenal, with the ability and levels of concentration required, you will struggle to see games out 1-0.
  7. Are you related to him? Is that you, Jonny? Or just a compatriot?
  8. He was very lucky indeed. Although it was a good first time finish, his positioning was completely off. He flaps a lot at thin air and is a keeper who prefers to punch than catch. His only advantage on Raya is his height.
  9. Well that was a much better second half. No surprise to those who watch them a lot that Rothwell and Travis make a huge difference - especially when Dack is out of sorts. Brereton did well when he came on, not really playing up front but out wide on the left. Some good movement and got the run of the ball a little today. Did well for the goal: good run, fortunate to get the ball back, poor shot but which the Rangers keeper didn’t deal with and who conspired to pass the ball directly to Travis with an open net. Hard to see where a goal was coming from up to (and after) that moment. Sam Hart looked tidy and left back and has potentially given the manager something to think about especially with Bell not at it. Smallwood was largely anonymous for his cameo but when he did pass the ball it was in his typical style. Definitely needs to be moved on at this stage. A little astonishing that he still seems to feature in the manager’s plans at all. Armstrong looked quick and made a couple of good crosses. One that could have resulted in a goal but for a last ditch interception by the Gers defender. Second half we seemed to play with two wide men and no striker - with no Dack on the pitch. A really bizarre set up and one which looks like being Mowbray latest over-thought brainwave. Gallagher needs to change his mind because Brereton certainly isn’t that player. Overall a game of two halves. We are extremely profligate with the ball, indecisive and make too many mistakes - regularly handing the ball back to the opposition. This needs to be cut out or we are going to struggle. Rangers made changes and looked weaker while we made changes and looked stronger. We won’t be able to make 7 subs in the league so it’s vital that Mowbray gets his starting line up right more often. A good workout, that we very nearly lost but for the linesman’s flag, and I’m delighted for the Rovers fans who travelled but it must be said, we still need a commanding keeper, a dominant centre back and a decent third kit before the season starts.
  10. We really REALLY need an inspiring signing. I just don’t think that’s Mowbray’s style. Soldiers on the field and artists in the dugout. We are potentially heading into this new season in as pessimistic mood as when Bowyer ran out of money and time. There is a lot of responsibility now on Gallagher to be the catalyst for some excitement.
  11. Awful starting line up. Awful kit (how long until the players start blaming it?). Awful football. Really awful decision making all over the pitch. The only crumb of hope from the Rangers TV co-commentator “[Rovers] are treating this like a friendly while Rangers are treating it like a competitive fixture”. We need a new goalkeeper and at least one new centre back but a new left back is also looking like being a greater priority. We have not addressed the problems of last season that lead to our poor GA column. Too many players still dining out on the great team spirit that got us promoted from the third tier.
  12. Leutwiler in, Raya out Johnson in, Travis out (Reed out) Downing in, Rothwell out (Conway out) Let’s hope that isn’t the line up against Charlton. So much weaker. Has Mowbray bottled it, or playing recruitment roulette to get deals as cheap as possible?
  13. That’s just a pithy idiom that ol’ Nick deploys in the name of poetic license.
  14. Rubbish. It doesn’t have a green trim and tire marks.
  15. The site isn’t ‘free fall’. It’s the Summer and our transfer business is like an all inclusive at Pontins. It'll be fine once the season starts again.
  16. Welcome to the club! You’re going to need a thicker skin than that though. A PM about that new GK we are trying to get over the line would be great though if you are leaving anyway.
  17. Sad to say but I think he is going to be one of those players. I fear the same for Chapman.
  18. It’s a sign of the times when a long-standing and very even-handed and fair-minded poster like @Mattyblue is having to defend himself time and time for having an opinion! We really need a couple of decent signings soon!!
  19. Not sure how the football creditors rule plays in to all this. They will ‘definitely’ get paid in full at some point - except if the club is liquidated. If the my feel the chances of that are high, they should be able to move to another club (there are only so many jobs) but they may have to forfeit monies owed I guess. If they lose any more players then they are almost certainly doomed. Grim at the minute though - even their new potential owners is more interested in the Hotel than the club and they still don’t have any season tickets on sale.
  20. Hope they don’t build it up again. Although surely it will just be last season's away kit.
  21. How can “wow” be interpreted as for or against? “Wow, I can’t believe we actually paid someone to come up with that!” In fact three of those choices could be taken either way.
