  1. What was apparent from the transcript of the appeal hearing was that some Rovers staff must have been at Ewood and presumably GB and the player were at Brockhall and a lot of time was wasted sending documentation back and forward to each other when the obvious thing to do would have been to have everyone in one place and send any paperwork direct to the EFL in one hit.
  2. People just aren't having it are they? Cracking on like it's a "normal" window. Or at least normal by our standards.
  3. Don't get the hype with Hyam, good first half of last season then been really poor ever since for me.
  4. Can you imagine the panic in the corridors of power at Ewood/Pune if Palace tried to do the same to us with Wharton? To quote Kevin Keegan "I'd luv it, absolutely luv it" if the deal fell through. But not if we were so desperate we accepted an even lower fee.
  5. If true you can only get away with that so many times then Clubs will refuse to deal with you.
  6. We'll put Alex on the case. He can update us in a few hours if he's safely tucked Mcguire's Mum up for the night.
  7. Also Venky's were originally prepared to fund that black hole and all budgeting would have been done on that basis. It's one thing planning to gradually reduce our financial dependence on them over a period of time and another totally to see all funding removed in one hit.
  8. Yep. Usual Nixon scenario "X set to move in shock deal!" "X's move still going to plan" "X's move off in sensational new twist!" Kerchiiing.
  9. Won't happen but at this point if Wharton came to his senses and backed out of the Palace deal, we offloaded Gallagher and brought in Mcguire at zero net cost I'd consider that a right result compared to what the window could have ended up as. If we could also offload Wahlstedt and bring in a capable keeper it would almost be "If Carlsberg did transfer windows" territory. Let Venky's sort out the finances separately.
  10. It's had vibes of the O Brien deal ever since it was announced given the logistical issues.
  11. You keep ignoring the fact that purchases are made on exactly the same basis over the life of the contract as well.
  12. Thanks for that reminder, I'm quite capable of making my mind up on which posters I think are worth listening to and which aren't! His opinion/information is better than most imo. If you don't agree that's absolutely fine.
  13. We're very well stocked for cenre halves now. Just the odd five. Spending big money on another one would be ridiculous imo given the gaps in other areas. Still no decent striker, subject to whether the US lad comes in and hits the ground running, no pace on either flank, very light in central midfield after the departures of Travis and Wharton, no decent LB, questions over the keepers etc etc
  14. More to do with the finances possibly, Loan a couple now and if they're any good and restrictions are removed in summer buy then. If they're not removed we can send them back.
  15. What happened to Sibley? He looked the dog's danglers at one point.
  16. It'll be poor if Scott Wharton is dropped for a 37 Yr old. Hopefully he's just back up until Carter is available again.
  17. Well you have been crying out for "experience" for god knows how long....... Be careful what you wish for!
  18. Absolute rubbish. He'd have had an even more life changing move to a bigger Club if he'd hung fire slightly until summer. See the Venkys HMRC thread. It would appear he's been sold to keep the lights on until summer. Simple as that.
  19. Looks like philli has nailed it very concisely on the Venkys HMRC thread. Assuming he is correct of course.
  20. Very Interesting and the best insight I've seen into this situation. Thank you. So basically confirming the vast majority of the Wharton fee will just disappear in running costs. Is this hope the investigation will be over at the end of the season well founded or not, or do we have no idea?
  21. OK feel free to take the piss if we have a stellar day tomorrow. I'm glad you think everything down at the Club is going so well
  22. Ah OK, if we're classing SS as a striker guess we'll be out of luck with Mcguire. He's made one good signing. The rest ranging from average at best down to downright shocking.
